It is always an absolute pleasure to be working with sporting clubs, and their amazing volunteers.

The dedication and passion for sport and young people, alongside their willingness to learn and grow to support the mental health, wellbeing and inclusion of their players and members is incredible.

Thank you Grovedale Tigers Football Netball Club - Junior. All the best for the year ahead! 👌

Last Wednesday night we welcomed our Netball Coaches, Team Managers, Primary Carers and Netball Committee to an engaging session with Sarah Breed from OKAY Therapy.

Sarah took us through Understanding & Working with Big Behaviours — exploring regulation, communication, creating supportive environments, and practical ways to ensure every player feels included.
A fantastic night of learning — thank you Sarah for sharing your knowledge with us! 🖤💛

We asked our OTs about their go-to supports in sessions and these came up on repeat!

Each one uses deep pressure to help children feel more settled, organised and ready. 👌

So what is deep pressure?

It’s firm, consistent input to the body that supports proprioception (our sense of where our body is in space).

In this carousel you’ll see:
• Crawling through a tunnel
• A “blanket burrito”
• A lycra hammock

Different tools, same purpose - helping the body feel safe, calm and connected.

You might already be using deep pressure at home too:

• Squeezy hugs
• A heavy doona
• Cuddles with pets
• Chewing or crunchy foods.

What we love most is how flexible it is.
It can help calm high energy, or gently lift low energy, meeting your child where they’re at.

A simple tip from an OT that can make a big difference.👌

Anxiety in the classroom: let’s talk about what it really looks like.

Anxiety doesn’t always look like worry or quiet withdrawal.
Sometimes it’s the student who is:
• quick to anger or frustration
• constantly distracting others
• playing the “class clown” to shift attention away from themselves

What we see as behaviour can be a student trying to cope.

The more we understand what’s underneath, the more we can support in the moment. 🤍

If this feels familiar, reach out - we’re here to walk alongside you.

This Neurodiversity Celebration Week we are using as a reminder to include EVERYONE, not just ADHDers and Autistic people. And to celebrate that diversity in thinking, feeling and functioning.

Neurodiversity includes:
✨Mental health differences like OCD, Bipolar, Anxiety and Depression
✨Personality disorders like BPD, NPD
✨Neurodevelopmental differences like Autism, ADHD, Dyslexia and Intellectual Disability
✨Neurotypical refers to people who fit in the "box" of expected functioning in society. Also a part of Neurodiversity!

We are grateful for the Neurodiversity in our community of staff, clients and families. We see you and we celebrate you.

Imagine having more time to actually teach… and your students having more capacity to learn.

It starts with regulation. 👌Grows through communication that truly lands👌And is built through inclusive practices embedded into everyday teaching, not just a policy document. 👌

We know it’s complex. That’s why we walk alongside schools to make it feel more doable, one step at a time.

When children can’t access school, the impact can extend beyond missed learning. It can affect family life, finances and parent–child relationships.

At OKAY Therapy, we believe schools and families shouldn’t have to navigate this alone.

By building more inclusive, flexible learning environments and understanding the needs of neurodivergent and trauma-impacted students, more children can feel safe, supported and ready to learn.👌

If your school or family is navigating this right now, we’re here to have the conversation. ➡️ DM us for more info.

Want inclusion support that actually fits your school?

With team members who have worked as teachers, we understand the complexity and competing demands educators navigate each day.

Together, we build practical supports that help students feel settled, included and ready to learn.

If inclusion, wellbeing and neuro-affirming support are part of your school’s focus this year, we’d love to connect.

When family relationships feel stretched, the right support can make a real difference. 🤍

Our Social Worker, Melita currently has a small number of openings to support families.

Melita works alongside children and parents to strengthen connection, build emotional regulation and support safe, secure relationships. Her work often includes play-based therapy, parent coaching, trauma and attachment support, and helping families navigate sibling or parental separation dynamics.

Spots are limited.

If this kind of support could help your family, feel free to reach out for a conversation or submit a referral via the đź”— link in bio.
