Creating an inclusive learning environment doesn’t always require big changes. Often, it’s the small choices we make each day that help students feel seen, supported and ready to learn.

Here are three simple ways to begin:

1️⃣ Offer multiple seating options

Flexible seating can help students regulate their body and attention. When students feel comfortable, calm and grounded, the whole classroom benefits.

2️⃣ Use visual supports

Visuals help make information more accessible and predictable. They support communication, reduce overwhelm, and empower all students to engage with classroom routines, activities and learning goals.

3️⃣ Start with a morning greeting routine

A warm, consistent check-in at the start of the day builds trust and connection. These small moments help students feel safe, understood and ready to start learning.

Inclusion can grow through everyday moments of care. 👌

➡️ “ADHD is just a medical issue.” ⬅️ Not quite! It’s a bit more complex than that.

While the medical model helps with diagnosis and access to medication, it doesn’t tell the whole story. When we only see ADHD through a medical lens, it can leave ADHDers feeling like they are the problem.

A neuroaffirming approach shifts that view - recognising ADHD as a different way of thinking, learning, and regulating. Not a disorder to “fix,” but a neurotype to understand and support.

👌At OKAY Therapy, we’re proud to practice this neuroaffirming lens every day.👌

It’s ADHD Awareness Month.👌

In our second myth busting post, we’re unpacking ▪️executive functioning differences▪️the brain’s “admin” that helps with planning, prioritising and managing time.

For ADHDers, these skills can take more energy and effort.

When we expect every student to independently unpack, organise, and start tasks the same way, we risk missing what they need to succeed.

Supports like routines, body doubling and movement breaks can make a big difference in helping kids (and adults!) to find their rhythm.👌

A little peek inside one of our favourite reads - “Wonderfully Wired Brains”. 💛

We love sharing this book with our young neurodivergent clients to help them understand their brains, celebrate their strengths and feel proud of who they are.

✨ Because every person deserves to feel seen and supported.

It’s ADHD Awareness Month, and we’re myth-busting!👌

Myth #1: “Everyone is a little bit ADHD.”
Spoiler alert: nope.

While many people can feel distracted, impatient or forgetful at times, for people with ADHD, these experiences are more frequent, more intense and ongoing. That’s what makes ADHD different and why it’s important to understand the real impact it has on daily life.

Remember - ADHD is a spectrum, and no two ADHD journeys look the same.

👌At OKAY Therapy, we’re taking a moment to check in with ourselves and get ready for Term 4.

The school holidays are a great time to notice what really restores your energy - both for you and your family.

For neurodivergent people especially, having space to reset and feel replenished is essential.

Some common ways people recharge include:
✨ Spending time in nature
✨ Movement
✨ Connecting with friends and family
✨ Quiet time
✨ Engaging in SPINs

What helps you feel recharged?
