This International Women’s Day, we’re joining the call to ‘balance the scales.’

When women and girls stand equal, families are stronger, workplaces are fairer, communities thrive, and society becomes safer for everyone.

Let’s all commit to doing our bit – challenge gender stereotypes, support and empower women and girls, and call for action on gender equality from governments and workplaces.

On Thursday March 5th Benalla Health staff came together to do their bit and help raise awareness for International Women's Day.

Today is World Lymphoedema Day

A day dedicated to raising awareness about lymphoedema — a chronic condition caused by a build‑up of lymphatic fluid that leads to swelling, most commonly in the arms or legs.

Lymphoedema can develop after cancer treatment, surgery, infection, trauma, or due to congenital changes in the lymphatic system. While there is currently no cure, early diagnosis and the right management can make a huge difference to a person’s comfort, mobility, and overall quality of life.

Treatment options may include:
✔️ Compression therapy
✔️ Exercise
✔️ Skin care
✔️ Specialised lymphatic management

World Lymphoedema Day is also a reminder of the vital role healthcare professionals play in recognising symptoms early, supporting patients, and helping improve access to effective care.

Antenatal Classes
• 3-week program (3 sessions)
• Support and education for pregnancy, birth & early parenting

Early Pregnancy Class
• Single session for first trimester or those planning pregnancy
• Covers fitness, nutrition & body changes

🎉 Planned Activities Group Celebrates Chinese New Year 🧧🐉

Today our Planned Activities Group (PAG) came together to celebrate Chinese New Year with the incredible culinary expertise of our wonderful PAG Coordinator, Winnie He, and her amazing team.

The group enjoyed a delicious lunch while also learning about the rich history and meaning behind Chinese New Year, a vibrant cultural celebration marking the beginning of the Lunar New Year. It’s a time filled with cherished traditions, family reunions, and deep historical significance. What a fantastic way to share culture, food, and connection!

We were also delighted to welcome Megan Martin, Ageing Well Officer at Benalla Rural City Council. Megan is passionate about ensuring our ageing community feels recognised, connected, and supported with the resources they need to live well.
