Please be advised that the Nurse Practitioners at our Benalla Health Urgent Care Centre will be unavailable TOMORROW Friday 5th of December.

Our team of highly qualified nursing professionals are available around the clock, seven days a week, and are complemented by our visiting General Practitioners and specialists from the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department (VVED).

The loss of a loved one (or pet) can be especially hard at times such as Christmas.

To acknowledge loss and grief, Benalla Health has again partnered with the Benalla Library to host our annual ‘Community Tree of Remembrance’ at the library and a second tree at Benalla Health Main Reception during December. Placing your message on a tree is a way of acknowledging our loved ones and including them in your Christmas preparations. In honour of the memories contained in messages, a ceremonial burning of the cards will be conducted by the Palliative Care Team in January.

Hospital in the Home (HITH)

HITH is a home-based care option for patients who would otherwise need to stay in hospital. Care is provided in your own home or at the HITH clinic by nurses, in consultation with your treating hospital doctor.

Who can be referred to the HITH program?
You can be treated by the HITH program if:
• Your treating doctor thinks you are suitable for this program
• You do not need 24-hour monitoring in hospital
• You agree to share responsibility for your own medical care in your home
• You have a support person available if required
• You have a telephone

Why choose Hospital in the Home instead of staying in hospital?
There are many benefits to being treated by the HITH team. You will receive the same quality of care that you would in hospital, but in the comfort of your own home. You will be able to eat your own food when it suits you, sleep in your own bed with no disruptions, and be surrounded by loved ones.

Costs
There are no fees for accessing HITH through the public hospital.
