It’s Trans Awareness Week (13–19 November)

This week is about listening, learning, and standing alongside our transgender and gender-diverse community. We believe everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and celebrated for who they are.

Let’s keep building a community where everyone can live authentically and thrive.

Our team are sharing their insights in Sydney today!

We’re proud to have Alex Cotterell and John Willis representing Golden City Support Services at the ASID - Australasian Society for Intellectual Disability conference.

Their presentation explores the importance of understanding the individual story of each person we support, recognising that everyone’s experiences, strengths, and aspirations shape the way we deliver truly person-centred support.

Is this the scariest CEO you’ve ever seen? 😱🎃

Natasha Williams has been getting into the Halloween spirit with our participants; spooky dolls, lollies, creepy decorations, and plenty of laughs along the way! 💀🕸️

Be honest… who’s scarier — Natasha or the dolls? 👀

✨ Burnout Ballet is hitting the stage!

This bold new production from local disability arts program CreateA fuses street culture with dance to celebrate local stories, challenges perceptions and showcase performers of all-abilities.

The performance started as an idea from a local news story about ‘burnout’ behaviour in Bendigo streets. CreateA has taken this idea and, with their typical inventiveness, delivered a show that has bar scenes, car scenes and dance routines.

Don’t miss this chance to see performers with all-abilities take the stage, share their stories, and be seen as artists.

📌 The Engine Room, View Street
📅 December 11 and 12

To purchase tickets, please visit:

-

The full stage production is made possible through support from the City, including rehearsal and performance space, and a $5,000 Power-Up Grant from the Ulumbarra Foundation to support costume and set design, music production, and payment for performers and creative staff.

At Golden City Support Services, we see the quiet dedication of carers, the love, patience, humour, and resilience that hold families and communities together.

This National Carers Week, we want to say "thank you".To every carer for the early mornings, the late nights, the small acts of kindness that make a big difference.

You make our community stronger.

Today we join the global community in raising awareness of mental health and the importance of supporting one another.

World Mental Health Day is a reminder that mental health matters; everywhere, for everyone. It’s an opportunity for individuals, organisations, and communities to come together, share stories, and strengthen the movement for better mental health care worldwide.

Let’s continue to talk openly, listen without judgment, and support those around us, because no one should face mental health challenges alone.

💬 Take action today:
✅ Check in on a friend or colleague.
✅ Share mental health resources.
✅ Take time for your own wellbeing.
✅ Start the conversation.

Together, we can make mental health care a reality for all. 💚
