Funeral Home Transfer Driver (casual)
So what is the role, exactly?
• Transfer of deceased persons from the place of passing to mortuary facilities. Collection locations will include hospitals, private homes, aged care facilities and other public locations.
• Work and communicate regularly with the health care staff, police and coronial staff to facilitate the transfers, also effectively and compassionately communicating with the family of the deceased.
• Manually handle the deceased, often placing them, caringly and reverently, onto transfer stretchers and then transporting them in a van to the respective destination.
• Safely orchestrate and manoeuvre locations that have stairs, limited access and complicated extractions (training, tools and aids are provided); manual lift of the deceased is required in a number of circumstances - the successful applicant will be fit and able to complete this lifting task with their 2nd team member.
• Uphold and maintain a reverent, caring and respectful approach and manner in every aspect of their role and tasks.
• Work in an on-call capacity, completing their tasks within agreed response timeframes.
• Can work as a team – our Drivers work in pairs
The Ideal Candidate will have:
• Full valid Driver’s License (and personal transport to report to work)
• A Current Police Check (or willing to obtain one)
• Full working rights in Australia
• Mobile Phone
• A caring and compassionate nature
• Ability to establish a reliable working roster
• A level of strength and fitness to handle deceased
