Four positions to avoid to reduce lateral hip pain:

🧍‍♂️Avoid dropping your hip in standing, instead stand with even weight through both feet.
🧍‍♂️Don’t lie on your painful hip, instead lie on your unaffected side with a pillow between your knees.
🧍‍♂️Avoid sitting in deep chairs.
🧍‍♂️Try not to cross your legs in sitting and when lying on the couch.

These simple changes will help to decrease the compression of irritated structures of your painful hip.

Today is World Osteoporosis Day. 🩻

Did you know 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men over the age of 50 will experience an osteoporotic fracture?

It’s important to stay physically active and participate in weight bearing exercises to strengthen your muscle and bone tissue.

Including balance exercises can reduce your risk of falls as you age, and eating a nutritious diet which includes vitamin D and calcium helps maintain bone health.

Trouble sleeping because you have hip pain? 🥱

TIP: If you have pain in the side of your hip try sleeping on your unaffected side with a pillow between your thighs and knees. The pillow helps to elevate your leg to reduce the tension of tight muscles compressing the outer structures of your irritated hip.
