What a great day we had at Bendigo TAFE student Welcome Day this week. It was the perfect opportunity to introduce our new youth Ambassador Linda and Family and Friends Reference Group member Vin to the community engagement work we do in our community. 🙌

Thanks for your reflection of the day Vin 😊

Today was my first event with headspace Bendigo and I had so much fun! 👏🙌
I was assisting with distributing fact sheets, headspace bookmarks, and SPAN crisis cards to students and visitors while directing them to the headspace stall. 📒📙📘📔
This experience allowed me to engage with young people, raise awareness of available support services, and contribute to promoting mental wellbeing within the community. 🙏🙏🙏
I found the role rewarding and meaningful, as it reinforced my passion for supporting others and working in the community services sector which is my kind of thing. 😀😀

Last week the Work & Study team attended the Bendigo Tafe Pathways Expo at the Bendigo Tafe Health and Community Centre of Excellence. It was a great opportunity to connect with students studying in the Community Services sector.
We were inspired to see so many passionate people wanting to make a difference within the community. Thank you to the students who engaged and to Bendigo Tafe for hosting the event. We look forward to being back again soon. 💚💚

After 11 years of dedicated study, we are proud to congratulate headspace Bendigo GP Colin Sherlock on successfully passing his recent GP exams! 🎉👏

He says that he’s really enjoyed working as a GP Registrar at headspace Bendigo and we feel so privileged he chose us to be part of his journey. 💚

“It has given me a brilliant opportunity to work with young people in a setting that is welcoming, flexible and above all, allows them time to express and explore the complex mental health issues that they are experiencing,” he says.
“My time at headspace Bendigo has taught me a lot so far and I have no doubt will continue to do so throughout the rest of my time here”.

Shout out to Agnico Eagle Australia Community Partnership Program too, who generously provide funds to headspace Bendigo. This financial support allows us to host and train GP Registrars which then enables us to grow the GP Mental Health workforce in Central Victoria!

Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we introduce our newest GP registrar to the team who will be with us for the next 6 months. 👀

Boundaries
🛑💙 Boundaries Are Self-Care
Setting personal boundaries is an important part of taking care of yourself.
Boundaries help you honor and respect your emotional, psychological, and physical needs - and remind others to do the same.
Here are some boundary statements to try out:
- If you need time to think : I don’t know off the top of my head. Let me get back to you.
- Uncomfortable conversations: I understand we don’t agree, but I’d like to keep this conversation respectful.
- To many demands: I have to protect my time, so I won’t be able to take this on right now.
It’s okay to say no.
It’s okay to protect your time and energy.
Taking care of you matters 💫
