Most people tell me they’re “just stressed…”

But often, it’s not just stress, it’s a nervous system that hasn’t been able to switch gears in a long time.

You can be functioning, productive, ticking the boxes… and still never feel truly calm.

🌀 Living in sympathetic (fight or flight) mode doesn’t always look dramatic. Sometimes it’s subtle. Feeling wired but exhausted at the same time. Struggling to switch your mind off at night. Tight shoulders. Reaching for caffeine. Digestive issues that don’t fully settle.

🌀 Parasympathetic (rest and digest) mode feels different. Your breathing deepens. Your body feels warmer and softer. Digestion improves. Sleep comes more easily. You can focus without forcing it.

The goal isn’t to stay calm 24/7. Stress is part of being human.

The goal is flexibility 🙏🏽
Being able to activate when you need to, and then return to safety.

Because healing doesn’t happen in fight or flight. It happens when the body feels safe enough to repair.

Save this as a gentle check-in 🤍

If your body feels like it’s stuck in “on” mode, wired, tense, shallow breathing, restless sleep, this is where I start in clinic: the vagus nerve ✨

The vagus nerve is a big part of your rest + digest response.

Supporting it isn’t about doing more… it’s about giving your nervous system small, repeatable cues of safety 🤍

A few simple ways to start (and yes, they can be this basic):
💨 longer exhales
🎶 humming/singing for 60 seconds
🫧gargling
🚶‍♀️slow walk + look into the distance
☀️morning sunlight
❄️cold splash on face
😮‍💨soften your jaw + drop your shoulders

Pick one and do it daily for a week.

What’s your favourite way to support your vagus nerve? Let me know in the comments below.

Struggling with sleep? Before you reach for supplements, try this simple reset 🌙

Sleep is deeply connected to your nervous system and circadian rhythm, and small, consistent habits often make the biggest difference.

Try this 5-step sleep reset for 7 nights:
✔️ Wake at the same time every day (yes, even weekends)
✔️ Get morning light within 30 minutes of waking
✔️ Cut off caffeine at least 8 hours before bed
✔️ Create a consistent 10–15 minute wind-down routine
✔️ Keep your room cool and dark

It’s not about perfection. It’s about rhythm.

Your body loves predictability, and when it feels safe and supported, sleep often follows.

✨ Save this and commit to 7 nights.

For the person who’s exhausted from trying everything… 🤍

If you’ve tried the skincare, the treatments, the restrictive diets, and your skin still isn’t where you want it to be, you’re not alone.

At Bloom, we see so many people stuck in the cycle of managing symptoms without ever being shown why their skin is flaring in the first place.

🌸 The Bloom SkinCARE Program is a 4-month journey designed to uncover the root cause of acne, eczema, psoriasis and rosacea, not just calm it temporarily.

Using functional pathology testing, we assess key internal drivers like hormones, insulin, cortisol, thyroid function and the gut microbiome. Because skin health isn’t just surface deep.

We combine this with:
💗 A personalised naturopathic treatment plan
💗 SkinCARE review
💗 Monthly 1:1 support
💗 Ongoing messaging so you’re never left guessing or navigating flare-ups alone.

This is an inside out + outside in approach.
Because true skin healing requires both.

If you’re ready to move away from quick fixes and understand your skin on a deeper level, this program was created for you.

You might think you’re “doing all the right things” to calm your body…

But some habits that feel productive can actually keep your nervous system switched on. ⚡️

👉 Scrolling in bed to wind down? That’s still stimulation.
👉 HIIT every day when you’re already exhausted? That’s more stress load.
👉 Over-restricting food to control acne? Your body reads that as threat, not safety.

Dysregulation isn’t always about big trauma or obvious stress. Sometimes it’s the small, daily habits that quietly keep cortisol elevated and your body stuck in fight-or-flight.

Regulation is less about doing more, and more about doing what truly signals safety to your system.

3 “calming” habits that can actually keep you stuck in stress mode 😵‍💫👇

1️⃣Scrolling in bed to “wind down” 📱
Try this instead: put your phone on charge outside the room + do a 2-minute exhale reset (inhale 4, exhale 6–8) 💨

2️⃣Over-caffeinating to function ☕️
Try this instead: delay your first coffee 60–90 minutes + get morning light outside first ☀️ (even 5–10 mins helps)

3️⃣HIIT when you’re already depleted 🏃‍♀️
Try this instead: swap one session for zone 2 (easy pace walk/cycle) + finish with 5 slow breaths 😮‍💨

None of these are “bad”, it’s about timing.

If your system is already running hot, the goal is downshifting, not pushing harder.

Save this + send it to your most stressed friend 📩

Ever feel like everyone around you is meditating and feeling calm… except you? 😅

It’s not that you’re doing it “wrong”, calming your nervous system isn’t one-size-fits-all 💗

Your parasympathetic nervous system (rest + digest) only switches on when your body feels safe. And what feels safe can be completely different for each person.

Some people thrive in stillness. Others need movement, nature, or simple rituals to feel grounded. Find what actually helps your body feel safe, whether that’s meditation, a walk in the park, gentle stretching, or just slowing down your breath.

✨ Your nervous system, your rules. There’s no “right” way to switch on rest + digest.

Share this with someone who keeps telling you “you just need to meditate”! 😜

Have you ever wondered what all of those referred blood tests are actually good for? Well here’s why we test at Bloom…

We live by the philosophy, test, don’t guess.

Guessing is often why people end up on the merry-go-round of new skincare, random supplements and restrictive diets, without real, lasting change. If we don’t know what’s driving your skin, we’re just trialling.

Here’s what we’re actually looking at:
💗 Hormones like prolactin, oestrogen, testosterone and DHEAs can all influence oil production, breakouts, inflammation, stress response and even conditions like PCOS.
💗 Cortisol (your main stress hormone) can increase inflammation, slow skin healing and accelerate ageing when elevated long-term.
💗 Insulin and blood sugar balance play a huge role in acne, PCOS and overall skin inflammation, and can even affect how much oil your skin produces.
💗 Thyroid function influences skin cell turnover, barrier health and hydration.
💗 And your gut microbiome? Low diversity or imbalance has been linked to increased
inflammation, impaired immunity and hormonal disruption, all of which can show up on your skin.
When we test, we gain clarity.

When we gain clarity, we can personalise your treatment plan.

No more guessing. Just understanding your skin at its root 🤍

Anxiety isn’t a personal failing. It’s often the body asking for safety, support, and regulation.

When we stop seeing anxiety as something to fight or “push through”, we can start responding with care instead of criticism 💕

Listening can be the first step. Gentle support is available.

If rest doesn’t feel restorative anymore, this is worth reading 👇

Chronic stress doesn’t always look like feeling “stressed.” Often, it shows up quietly in the body, day after day.

You might notice things like waking tired despite a full night’s sleep, feeling wired but exhausted, racing thoughts, or relying on sugar or caffeine just to get through the afternoon.

Digestive discomfort under stress, trouble switching off at night, or feeling overwhelmed more easily are also common signs your nervous system may be under ongoing strain.

These signals aren’t a personal failure; they’re your body asking for support. When stress becomes chronic, it can affect energy, mood, digestion, focus, and resilience over time.

With the right foundations, nutrition, nervous system support, and personalised care, the body can relearn how to feel safe, regulated, and supported again.
