We are pleased to announce a new learning opportunity for consumers and community members - From data to dialogue: Understanding and translating health research, a two-part workshop that aims to equip participants with practical tools to read, question and translate health research.

◽Two part workshop - part one will be held on Fri 6th February, and part two will be held on Fri 20th Feb
◽Suitable for experienced consumers or those new to the space

A collaboration project between the Lions Eye Institute and Curtin University are looking for 5 people and/or carers with lived experience of managing back-of-the-eye disease (such as age-related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy) to form a Community Advisory Group.

DETAILS:
The current main treatment for back-of-the-eye disease is intravitreal injections (injections into the eye). The project is working on non-invasive eye-drops that can reduce the need for injections

💬The CAG will provide feedback on dosing, ease of use, storage, patient adherence strategies and accessibility to refine the formulation of the eye drops
◽You need to be a consumer of back-of-the-eye disease (either as a patient or carer).
◽You will be paid for your time

The Cardiology Department at Royal Perth Hospital have launched an “Acute Coronary Syndrome Priority Setting Partnership” to be conducted throughout 2025.

They are asking people who have a lived experience of heart attacks, their families and friends, as well as healthcare professionals who look after heart attack patients, to help by identifying the top ten questions that they want answered by heart research.

Researchers at Curtin University are undertaking research to understand the experiences of self-harm amongst autistic people and identify what makes accessing support easier/harder for autistic people who self-harm. They would like to form an advisory group to inform their research.

💬 Provide input into the design of research material, recruiting participants, discussion and sharing of findings
◽ Researchers would like to involve autistic adults who have self-harmed and/or have engaged with the mental health system, and close friends/loved ones of autistic people who reside in WA.
◽Commitment of 3 x 1-hour meetings held across the remainder of the year
