SwanCare

SwanCare Caring for WA seniors since 1961, SwanCare is a full service not-for-profit aged care community.

The first residents embraced SwanCare living (then known as Swan Cottage Homes) in 1961, shaping the future of the not-for-profit and registered charity, which has become one of Western Australia’s leading providers of quality retirement living and aged care. More than 1,000 residents call SwanCare’s Bentley Park home, residing in one of four aged care centres or in the vibrant retirement living community. The 15 hectare site is WA’s largest all-in-one retirement and aged care campus, including SwanCare at Home and services such as cafes, hairdressers, doctors, grocery store, and a leisure precinct with gym, pool, bowling green, and more. SwanCare also operates Australind Rise, a boutique retirement village situated by the Leschenault Inlet, only 1.5 hours south of Perth. The tight knit community enjoys social catch ups and quiet leisure facilities. SwanCare offers an engaging community and endeavours to enrich the lives of their residents. The company strives to provide a caring community where every person feels safe and has the freedom and choice to live the life they desire.

🌟 It’s International Volunteers Day!🌟

The corks were popping at our Champagne Breakfast this morning 🍾 as we recognised and celebrated the 160 incredible volunteers who give their time, heart and energy to our community.

This special event is just one small way to say thank you for the extraordinary work they do every day.🤗

Along with a gourmet feast, we proudly presented our 2025 Volunteer of the Year Awards.

A huge congratulations to Hugh Lennerts and Geoff Pointen!

Hugh:

“Of pleasant disposition! Hugh is a very helpful, hard-working man who volunteers in many ways in the village to make life better and easier for lots of villagers. Hugh is the most helpful person I know!”

Geoff:

“Geoff is the ‘go-to’ man for everything to do with the buses… A helpful and committed resident, he would make a well-respected Villager of the Year.”

It's time to put the spotlight on another wonderful team member in our series!

✨ Meet Queenie Narvaez, SwanCare Receptionist. ✨

Queenie started her SwanCare journey in 2016 as a student completing her workplace training, which led to a role as a carer. After living overseas for five years, she returned to rejoin the team as the SwanCare Waminda Receptionist.

Queenie believes that everyone deserves care, compassion and dignity. Being truly present with them gives her a sense of purpose, with their joy reminding her that this is exactly where she’s meant to be.

A fun fact about Queenie: She loves to sing! She says she may not be pitch-perfect, but “it’s all about the joy, not the notes!”🎶

Find out what advice Queenie would give her younger self, and meet some of our other SwanCare family: https://swancare.com.au/work-with-us/our-team

On Thursday the 13th November, our Support Office hosted a BBQ for Bentley Park residents! 🌭

What better way to bring people together than sharing good food and great conversation?

Our Executive Leadership Team, Senior Managers, and admin crew rolled up their sleeves and fired up the grill. 🔥

The aroma of sizzling sausages drew a crowd, and soon the balcony was buzzing with smiles and steady lines eager for a taste.

🌼 The Power of Flowers! 🌼

There were big smiles and full hearts at SwanCare recently when residents received surprise floral gifts thanks to the team at Bloom Well and the REED Collective. 💝

Bloom Well is a beautiful initiative where women of the CaLD community, (especially migrants, refugees and mothers rebuilding after domestic violence), are provided a safe, creative space to repurpose flowers on the way to landfill into stunning gifts, which are then delivered to seniors in aged-care homes.

Since September, the team has visited SwanCare Tandara, Kingia and Ningana. From spontaneous singing to happy tears, these visits reminded us just how powerful a simple act of generosity can be.✨

Thank you to Kristen and the Bloom Well team for bringing beauty and kindness into our homes. 🥰

A special throwback to our Remembrance Day commemoration.

Our community came together to honour the bravery, sacrifice and stories that shaped our nation. Lest we forget. 🌺

From fascinators to sweeps, nibbles to bubbles,🍾 Melbourne Cup Day at SwanCare always spans the entire campus! 🎉

Our residential care residents enjoyed donning their best outfits for a chance at taking home best dressed, while the retirement living residents were treated to their own Bentley Cup, which was won by fan favourite – and tough competitor – Hugh L.🥇

The nation may stop, but there’s no stopping the smiles and laughter at SwanCare on Cup Day.

🔥With the weather heating up, we’re excited to share the warmth of our amazing team. Get to know them in our series!

Staff members have been sharing their “why” - why they love working at SwanCare and what makes them stay for more!

✨Meet Joe Armstrong, our Administration Assistant/Receptionist.✨

When asked about her “why” she said her interactions with residents ‘fill my cup’, chatting with residents on her way to picking up mail is the best part of her day.

Joe may have been part of the SwanCare family since 2017, but how many people know her favourite karaoke song? 🎤 Next time you call SwanCare, it might be Joe on the other end – maybe you’ll get your own rendition if you ask!

✨ We’re building the future together! ✨

Last week, our amazing SwanCare team came together to explore our Strategic Priorities and bring our Behaviour Standards to life through fun, hands-on activities.

The energy was incredible! Our Executive Leadership Team joined the celebration, connected with staff and even served up a classic sausage sizzle 🍽️🌭

From teamwork and community spirit to sustainability and excellence, it was a beautiful reminder of what makes SwanCare so special 💙

Let the games begin!

There’s nothing quite like a bit of friendly competition at SwanCare and our residents, and staff, certainly brought their A-game!

From ten pin bowling to noodle hockey and bean bag toss, our residential aged care residents went head-to-head in the SwanCare Games, filled with cheeky jibes, laughter and plenty of team spirit.

👏 A huge shoutout to all our centres for their energetic participation and to the amazing staff who made it all happen.👏
