Starting 1 November 2025, the Australian Government will roll out the brand-new Support at Home (SAH) program — designed to give older Australians more flexible and personalised home care support. 🏡
Many people are asking:
💬 “Will I need to pay for the services myself?”
💬 “How much will the government cover?”
Here’s a simple breakdown 👇
---
💠 1. Clinical Support Services
(e.g. nursing, physiotherapy, nutrition advice)
✅ Fully funded by the government — no out-of-pocket cost!
---
💠 2. Independent Living Support
(e.g. personal care, transport, community activities)
💰 Contribution rate:
Full pensioners: 5%
Part pensioners: 5%–50%
Self-funded retirees: 50%
---
💠 3. Everyday Living Support
(e.g. cleaning, gardening, meal services)
💰 Contribution rate:
Full pensioners: 17.5%
Part pensioners: 17.5%–80%
Self-funded retirees: 80%
---
🧾 Fees will continue to be charged monthly, just like the current income-tested care fee system.
✨ In short:
Clinical care = fully funded 💯
Independent & daily support = co-contribution based on income
The new system is designed to be fairer and more flexible for everyone

📚 This upcoming change is one of the biggest updates to Australia’s aged care support system in years.
If you or your loved ones are receiving home care, it’s a great time to understand how the new program might work for you.
