As someone who has seen the impact Dementia can have on a loved one, I wanted to give a big thank you to the for inviting me to help out and join this year's Together for Dementia as part of their Dementia Action Week.

It's estimated that dementia impacts approximately 433,300 Australians.

Whilst cures haven't been found yet, some research suggests exercise, and gentle activity such as yoga may help manage dementia symptoms, potentially improving cognitive function, attention, verbal memory, mood, and neural connectivity in dementia patients.

💭 We're born with many senses and sound is one of our favourites. A perfect example is music, if can stimulate memories, thoughts or even other senses.

Dr Masaru Emoto - the hidden messages in water. Is a humbling remind of the power certain words, frequency and vibrations can have. Taking clean water samples, exposing to certain words like, thank you, love and gratitude. Final when water is exposed to these words and then frozen the water would form beautiful crystalline structures.

A humble reminder that words and sound has the ability to alter the world around us 🌎.

*PS the singing bowls are actually sitting office, collecting dust... Might need to run another sound workshop soon.

⏰ The demand for educators these days are incredible. Not only are you the leader of dozens of young minds, you need to be a friend, facilitator and sometimes counsellors.

is not easy. And current support and training for Teachers around Mental Health & Trauma Aware Education could be better.

What's it like for you as an educator? Do you have the support around you to succeed in educating others?

One of the most strangest things I hear with new clients is they apologise for coming into a session as they feel their issue isn't "real."

This for me is a reminder of how stigmatised mental health has become and everyone thinks that they need to have a "quirk" or a deeper issue or illness to seek help.

Just in my experience that's not the case at all. Sometimes you just need to be heard, or have a thought "unhooked" out of your head.

So whatever your reasons, please 🙏 know they are real, you matter and you don't need to say sorry for having them.

It's hard to make choices that "unhook" ourselves and let us move towards a life that is better.

Like it's easy to take a day off, sit on the couch and watch Apple+...

The work is hard. Always. But when you are doing something worthwhile it should be. That's how you know you are making progress.

A client reminded me of this recently. And I am humbled.

So love the journey and embrace the pain - the choice is yours.

It's estimated nearly 1 in 10 Aussies have self harmed in their life time (2020–2022 NSMHW estimate).

A common theme amongst those that do - anxiety, depression and substance abuse.

But you can do something about it, you can help see the signs and help someone in need. And, it starts with arming yourself with the right knowledge.
