Understanding Art Therapy

Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses creative expression to explore the self and relationships with others. My approach focuses on creating a safe, supportive space where clients can engage in intentional art-making. Through the creative process, individuals can express thoughts or feelings that may be difficult to put into words, develop emotional regulation by recognising and managing their emotions, and discover their unique strengths and needs, building confidence and self-awareness. Rather than acting as barriers, emotions become tools for insight and personal growth. Central to art therapy is the relationship between client and art therapist, where meaningful connection, constructive guidance, and creative approaches support progress. This holistic practice considers each person’s unique needs within the context of their environment, including family, community, and culture. By bridging the gap between feelings and lived experiences, art therapy provides effective ways to develop life skills, enhance well-being, and foster wellbeing.

Last week we said a sad farewell to our Director's daughter and the best Operations Manager ever, Chloe Dole. Chloe has been a big part of our team since 2017, creating our website, team intranet, automating forms and systems and co-facilitating Lego Club.
