Wondering how to simplify your communication about neurodiversity?
That’s where neurodiversity-affirming language comes in. 🌈
This approach is all about using language that respects and validates the neurodivergent experience, seeing differences like autism or ADHD not as deficits, but as natural variations of the human brain. Instead of using outdated, harmful terms, you choose words that promote acceptance and inclusion.
At its core, this looks like:
✨ Focusing on the person first: Use phrases like “an autistic person” or “a person with ADHD” instead of “the autistic” or “an ADHD child.” (Note: some individuals prefer identity-first language like “autistic person”—always follow the individual’s preference!)
✨ Replacing deficit-based words like “low-functioning,” “disordered,” or “suffers from” with neutral or positive terms like “different support needs,” “neurotype,” or “experiences.”
✨ Highlighting strengths and differences instead of only challenges, like talking about attention differences or detail-oriented thinking.

Neurodiversity-affirming language is all about making communication simpler, more respectful, and more effective, so everyone can focus on what matters most: celebrating unique identities and nurturing growth.

What’s one neurodiversity-affirming word or phrase you’re going to start using today? Share it in the comments! 👇

Wondering how to simplify your family’s support journey? We get it. Juggling multiple appointments and therapists can be a lot. 🗓️

That’s where our Key Worker model comes in.

This service is all about providing a single, trusted point of contact who coordinates all of your child’s care. Instead of meeting with different clinicians for every goal, your Key Worker works with your family, your child’s team, and even their school to ensure a consistent, integrated plan.

At Nurture, this looks like:
✨ One therapist who really gets to know your child and family’s needs.
✨ Streamlined communication and a single person to go to with questions.
✨ Goals that are woven into your child’s everyday life and routines.
✨ A collaborative partnership built on trust and respect.

The Key Worker model is all about making the support process simpler and more effective, so your family can focus on what matters most: nurturing your child’s growth and celebrating their unique identity. 💛

Communication isn’t one-size-fits-all. In fact, there’s no “right” way at all! This AAC Awareness Month, we celebrate the diverse methods people use to connect.
The goal is always to be heard, understood, and valued—and Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) is a crucial way to make that happen for millions. Let’s create a more inclusive world where all forms of communication are recognized and supported. 🗣️✍️💻

✨ Happy AAC Awareness Month! ✨

Communication is a human right. This October, we’re celebrating the many ways people connect and express themselves. 🌈

AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) is inclusion, it’s one of the many tools that helps people share, connect, and be understood.

💬 Every form of communication is valid.

Let’s keep advocating for accessible communication for all. 💜

Navigating health information online can be tricky! 🤯 We’re tackling a big myth today: the claim that Tylenol cause autism.

Let’s set the record straight:
✨ The claim that Tylenol (acetaminophen) causes autism is a myth. Major health organizations and scientific consensus have found no causal link between the two.

Our goal is to provide accurate, evidence-based information. Trusting credible sources is key to making informed health decisions for our families. ✅

Ever wondered what neurodiversity-affirming therapy is really all about? 🤔

Today, we’re busting myths and sharing the facts about our approach. It’s not about ignoring challenges; it’s about providing genuine support that honors a person’s authentic self.

At Nurture, this looks like:
✨ Working on skills that improve a person’s quality of life and autonomy
✨ Following a child’s lead to create engaging, goal-oriented sessions
✨ Empowering children with self-advocacy and regulation tools
✨ Interpreting “behaviors” as communication to meet unmet needs

Our neurodiversity-affirming approach is all about respectful care that truly meets each person where they are, helping them thrive as their unique selves.  💛

Ever wondered what Neurodiversity-Affirming Care actually means? 💛
In our “What is …” series today, we’re breaking it down: it’s a way of supporting neurodivergent people by celebrating who they are, not trying to “fix” them.

At Nurture, this looks like:
✨ Highlighting each person’s unique strengths
✨ Respecting all ways of communicating, from gestures to AAC
✨ Creating safe, non-judgmental spaces where everyone feels heard
✨ Setting goals that truly matter to the individual and their family

Neurodiversity-affirming care is all about walking alongside, listening, and supporting each person’s journey. 🌈
