Hi all, my recent videos and the next two videos about counselling will be put on hold until next year. Why? It is because I would like to talk about Christmas which is coming soon so I would like to make some comments for you. Christmas can be a difficult time for some deaf people because, you know why, they face barriers in communication with their families who cannot sign which can make them feel more lonely and left out and affect their socialisation skills and many more [barriers] which can make them more sad. So I would like to put something
out here for example, to help plan with Christmas choices like
replacing family celebrations with friends celebrations or you can help volunteering serving food [for charity]. So you do have a choice and control to decide what you want to do. We will be posting videos and posters from our staff about Christmas as everyone is talking about it and it is not too early to start preparing well ahead. See you later.

Now the second topic is counselling, which also includes therapy assistants who work under the direction of a counsellor [like me], who provide a lot of in-depth conversations with clients by communicating and [skills building via] hours of interaction. A lot of deaf and h.o.h people grow up missing out a lot of valuable communication [in a language they understand] to learn more about themselves and empathy and so on. So our work involves enhancing their communication skills through long term sessions of therapy assistance or counselling sessions. Ok, third topic soon, have a good day.

On 11 October, Karli was honored to collaborate with Jasmine Stephens on her initiative designed to unite Deaf and hearing individuals in celebrating stories from Deaf culture showcased at Embodied Deaf Art Exhibition held at North Curl Curl, Sydney.
This collaboration included the delivery of the "Embodied – A Deaf Perspective" Meditation and Mental Health workshop. The exhibition aims to foster deeper connections between hearing and Deaf communities by examining how physical and emotional experiences are influenced by our social environments and how identity and dialogue are expressed through tangible and gestural forms.
This exhibition was supported by Deaf Connect and the Deaf Connect Grants & Sponsorship Program, and Northern Beaches Council as part of the Emerging Curator Program.
To Karli from Jasmine Stephens, Curator: "Thank you so much for being involved in this exhibition. Everyone that came to the program loved Karli's perspective and guidance. It was a beautiful day."

Maybe some of you don't know what counselling work involves. We do a lot of in-depth work. I will be sharing a number of videos about this. The first step we require from you clients, that clients are taking responsibility to remember your appointments when you meet me or other staff. That means you are taking responsibility for your time management. It means you take full responsibility to remember your appointments by keeping them written down. That is a valuable life skill to learn to manage your life more effectively. OK, I will send further videos about those topics soon. Have a good day.

Hi this is second part of transgender/trans-people video.
Transcript start
Hi, part two of topic on transgender/trans-people. Trans-people face lots of barriers + discrimination in their lives. They get denied access to medical healthcare, their support in mental health, sometimes, they get discriminated by
other people, people don't want to service them. In past years, Australia had researched and found that about 0.9% of Aussies are transgender. In that group, Aussies over 16 years and onwards, about 0.3% identify as trans-male/trans-man; about 0.3% identify as trans-female/trans-lady; about 0.3% identify as non-binary people - meaning they don't fit into either gender labels of male or female. We have slowly seen an increase in that number due to safe space and communities and families and friends supporting the trans-people. But today in the world of
politics, especially UK and USA, Trans-people are currently fighting against lot of
barriers and discrimination. We hope that with more understanding and support, that trans-people will feel more safe and continue fight for their rights.
Bye.

Hi, today I will talk about transgender/trans-people. This is a big topic to talk about, it has been discussed over the past few years. I have no expert knowledge but I will do my best to give you the facts. This is a big video so it will be split into two parts. Firstly, what is transgender? Transgender means when a person is born, feels they don't fit or match their biological s*x, they want to change their s*x. It can be changed different ways like their legal name, clothing styles or their pronouns in conversation or do medicinal surgeries or take hormones pills. Some trans-people don't want change their bodies, only tell the change of their pronouns and name which is totally acceptable and okay. Some trans find easy to bring it up in a conversation, make it obvious to families and friends that they're trans. Some trans-people, may not feel safe enough due to their environment, that there's no safety or support around them. We will talk more about that later. Bye

Happy International Sign Language Day today.
We also have National Week of Deaf People this week.
In the past, we had something like Hearing Week. But really we belong to Deaf culture and sign language due to our deaf identities.
The National Week of Deaf People was established following the creation of The World Federation of the Deaf (WFD) in 1958 to recognise sign language as part of our identity.
KHC, our NDIS business, provides services in sign language. We are very proud to provide this deaf led specialised service in Australia. We respect and honor your deaf identity due to you using sign language. Enjoy today and celebrate this week.
Bye all.
