Perimenopause: The Silent Struggle and Medical Gaslighting 🌸

At just 38, I began my journey into perimenopause, facing symptoms like irregular periods, heavy bleeding, low iron, constant exhaustion, hot flushes, and weight gain.

Despite clear signs, I was told I was "far too young" to be perimenopausal. With no alternative explanations offered and a refusal for hormonal testing, I took matters into my own hands.

I embraced a holistic approach—focusing on food, supplements, and natural hormonal support. Fast forward to now: after having my last period (unnatural period, read more in blog) at 47, now 49, I am well into menopause, still an anomaly in the medical profession.

Why is there such rigidity around this? With puberty starting younger than ever, shouldn't we consider that perimenopause might also begin earlier for some women? It’s time to break the silence and address the medical gaslighting many of us face.

Ever wonder why, despite our best efforts, diets seem to fail us time and time again? 🤔 It's time we question the role of social media and the multibillion-dollar diet industry in our struggles.

But what if this constant barrage isn't helping, but actually hindering our progress? 🚫

🎉 Happy Birthday To Me! 🎂

Goodness, 49 laps around the sun! What an absolute privilege it is to be celebrating this milestone. I'm delighted to report that I feel younger and more vibrant than I did in my twenties, and it's all down to embracing a holistic lifestyle.

Gone are the days of all-nighters, greasy takeaways and lazy weekends recovering. Now, I'm all about health and longevity. Thriving on a high protein, fruit and veg-packed diet, it's like rocket fuel for the body, I tell you! My plate looks like a rainbow, and my energy levels are through the roof.

But it's not just about what goes in the mouth. My boxing sessions are an absolute essential for me - nothing beats the rush of landing the perfect hook. And don't forget resistance training! It's transformed my body and mind, making me feel strong and powerful.

This journey has been a process and one I plan to continue for a lifetime. Who knew that at 49, I'd be in better condition than my twenties, this vintage has aged well! Here's to many more years of vitality and wellness. Cheers to that! 🥊🥗💪

So, how can we boost our collagen levels and maintain that youthful glow? Here are some effective ways:

How to Increase Collagen Intake Incorporate Collagen-Rich Foods:

Bone Broth: A fantastic source of collagen, bone broth can be easily made at home by simmering bones in water for hours. It's also available ready-made at health food stores.

Fatty Fish: Salmon and tuna not only provide collagen but are also rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which promote healthy skin.
