Quick hello to some new faces!

I’m Priya, a forever yoga student feeling called to share practices, teachings and techniques that I’ve learnt over my growing journey with Yoga and all things mindfulness.

My relationship with self-awareness came from zero. Unable to make decisions, understand my reason behind actions and words. I felt I had been living in a thick fog and blindly wading my way through the s**t storm I was calling life.

I firmly believe that self-awareness is our ultimate guide. Looking and loving within first. I don’t believe there is an ‘ultimate path’ or one method more truer than another. But that understanding what practices and teachings resonate within you is the best place for you.

The fog starts to thin out and will eventually disappear. But I’ve learnt that it can reappear without a steady practice. Whatever practice feels right for you, practice that how ever often you can.

I hope to stay in touch, please send me a message if you have any questions or queries about anything. I would love to connect 🥰

Connect.

The longest relationship we will ever have, is the one we have with ourselves.

The longest stay in any home, is the body in which we reside.

May we forever cherish ourselves as a sacred lover. May we reside in purely humble luxury.

Marigold.

Have you ever noticed how culturally significant Marigolds are? They are used in countless ceremonies through many different faiths. In the Hindu tradition a long necklace made of marigolds is usually adorned over a wedding couple, during moments of celebration and even reunion.

They represent the Sun, inner light, positivity.

Have you noticed them around you? In your environment.

Japa

Japa meditation is the practice of mantra repetition. Through repetition, the mind comes to a place of stillness. The mantra has a powerful transformative effect on the body and mind’s subtle energies. This helps us overcome and move through spiritual darkness (ignorance).

Each syllable of a mantra holds within in a vibrational frequency that has the ability to transform our subtle energies. Through Japa meditation we quite literally embody the mantra.

Connection.

We have choice over what and who we choose to connect with. My day can often focus on my connection to my job, my body, and my friends. Some days my connection to nature is my primary focus.

Ideally I would love to be able to connect with nature, spirit, love, family and friends everyday. But sometimes it isn’t possible.

Through years of travel and exploring the earth over land and sea, I deeply understood the importance of connecting to nature. So I asked myself how I can connect to nature on a daily basis that is accessible. The answers were so simple - Watering a plant each day, Feeding the birds on my balcony, Sky gazing.

Do you have anything you love to do that brings a connection to nature? Let me know below 🌻

Mornings.

As I’ve grown older, my focus has definitely shifted from - How I’m spending my evening to How I’m spending my morning.

Mornings are so precious. They contain within them the first thoughts, deep slow conscious breathing, long lion-like stretching, reflection over dreams had the night before, walking slowly, receiving light of the new day, fresh air, warm sips of coffee and buttery lips from hot toast.

Mornings for me are conscious, deliberate, wholesome. Ironing out tension, sitting in stillness, fulfilling silence.

Have you noticed the shift within yourself?

Yum.

That feeling after a long practice, post savasana. When you are just feeling juicy and loosey and light.

No matter how long I have been practicing Yoga for, having a guided class helps me to focus on other areas of my practice. It is always good to have a teacher, because there is no such thing as ‘I’ve nailed it’ in Yoga.

Me, My, Mine.

There was a definite turning point in my life where I no longer sat in the seat of the victim. I started to see the areas of my life that I had the responsibility to change or accept. Both of those require something along the lines of inner strength or discipline - to carry out change or to surrender.

And it is a positive reinforcement. Because I realised that as I started to take ownership of who I am, what my needs were, what I desired/not - this was the turning point. When I felt the foundations of some self esteem were being laid, I felt like I had stopped drowning in a washing machine, and could then start seeing life with more clarity. Basically I started to take ownership of me, my, mine.

Nourish.

I am still learning what feels good in my body, what foods give me energy and those that drain my energy. The foods that make me feel lethargic and those that make me feel I have given myself a gift.

As we become more self aware, we fine tune our ability to listen to our bodies. What feels nourishing, what feels draining. And by this we start to put health back into our bodies.

Not so easy.

Easy cross aint so easy. Especially with eyes closed, trying to clear the forest of thoughts that consume my mind most mornings. But then again, easy cross is probably the easiest thing part of meditation.

P.S. Meditating on a chair, sofa, against a wall is OK. Legs do NOT need to be in lotus, or crossed for that matter.

Sadhana.

Daily conscious practice. Daily spiritual practice. Finding universal guidance through routine. Finding resilience through resistance. Finding my soul through myself.
