We rely on critical thinking, and integrating clinical reasoning with mindful, intuitive wisdom to deliver programs that are helpful for you, your herd and your community. The process is often quite deep and transformational.

I am taking bookings for face to face Reiki based sessions which integrate decades of mental health support in OT and animal assisted therapy to support your transformation and change.

I don’t know where to start in how you can work with lambs. These twins are a black male and white female. So much to talk about, so many metaphors.

People just want to sit around the lambing paddock and feel good. It is opening so many of our kids up to talking and being patient. Incredible sense of calm and safety and watching how the different mums behave - easy to see attachment.

EXCITED!! Waiting for a flight to Perth. Something I have waited a long time to do - hippotherapy training. And I am heading all the way over to WA and rdaasouthwest. There is a long story here because this was training I looked for over a decade ago and couldn’t find a course I fancied. Plus they were all interstate. Still interstate in 2025, but now my kids are older and life is easier to leave for a few days of PD. I am so grateful for my work, and that it enables me to do really cool s**t like fly around playing with horses and meeting great folk. I had a sneaky peak at the attendee list and there are a few names I know. Even a couple of OT’s I trained in equine assisted occupational therapy. So all this makes me very excited. And while we have run a mounted program for many years at barefoottherapists and gadara_farm there is nothing like looking into an evidence based practice that has been around since the 1960’s. And actually was an ancient healing going back to Hippocrates who recommended it. Who knew?

I’m so onto something with this blend of ancient wisdom and modern evidence based practice. And finding that both are often true and are not as mutually exclusive as we have been led to believe. Better get to my gate fellow equine therapists.

I am working on some powerful collaborations at the moment. One is the Gadara Therapeutic Alliance which is creating opportunities for wellbeing with choices of different mediums. This is perfect for social prescribing and includes kundalini yoga, meditation and reiki in the presence of animals and nature and African drumming. All these are said to contain ancient wisdom and opportunities for healing. This is not therapy, but makes the most of environmentally enriched therapeutic activities available in the farm environment.
