BONE BROTH FOR GUT HEALTH//
Bone broth is a stable in my kitchen. With so many benefits for a little effort, it’s an affordable way to improve and maintain gut health. Bone broth is also one of the first foods I introduce and recommend for babies. Swipe 👉🏻 for more info and save the recipe for later!

GASTROINTESTINAL HEALTH//
Do you ever wonder what the gut is going on with my digestion?! Chronic unresolved digestive symptoms are a common reason people come see me. The importance of gut health can’t be underestimated as it can drive or exacerbate so many other health complaints as well. There can be many causes for similar symptoms, so a holistic approach is required and functional testing can be helpful. Naturopathy incorporates the use of nutritional and herbal medicine and dietary and lifestyle recommendations to improve gastrointestinal health, the microbiome (gut bacteria) and rectify, often debilitating, digestive symptoms. Digestive complaints that I can help with include:
Irritable bowel syndrome
Food intolerances
Ulcerative colitis
Diverticulitis
Reflux
Pain
Ulcers
Nausea
Bloating
Diarrhoea
Constipation
Poor appetite
Colic in babies
Irregular bowel motions
Failure to thrive in children
Infections (yeast, bacterial, parasitic)
I also find for most people when digestive function improves as do many other symptoms including fatigue, anxiety, depression, skin health, hormones, headaches, and the list goes on! If you want to get to the bottom of your gut issues reach out.

BALANCING HOT CACAO//
This little elixir is a delicious way to include Maca in the diet. Maca (Lepidium meyenii) is a Peruvian plant used for centuries in the Andes for nutrition and to enhance fertility. While more studies are needed, preliminary research has found a wide range of medicinal uses that may:
👉🏻 assist sexual dysfunction in menopause
👉🏻 improve semen quality
👉🏻 increase libido
👉🏻 improve mood
👉🏻 aid hormonal modulation
👉🏻 provide antioxidant properties

In your favourite mug mix together:
1 tbsp raw organic cacao
1/4 tsp organic maca powder (I use )
Pinch of cinnamon
Top with boiling water & your choice of milk or dairy free alternative. Optional dash of honey, maple syrup or stevia for sweetness. Curl up in a warm spot with a good book or favourite show. Enjoy & relax.

Recurrent UTIs
Thyroid disorders
Chronic infections
Gastrointestinal disorders

I work with women helping to identify the root cause/s of their health concerns, and provide herbal medicine, nutritional and lifestyle guidance to reduce or eliminate symptoms. If you’re struggling with hormonal imbalances, fatigue, stress or feel like you’ve lost your spark, reach out!

The best source of vitamin D is sunlight. Just spending a few minutes outdoors most days of the week will help improve and maintain your vitamin D levels. Always be mindful of sun safety, you don’t want to burn! For shift workers or those working indoors supplementation may be required, but levels should be tested first.

Very few foods contain much vitamin D. The best food sources of vitamin D are fatty fish like salmon*, herring and mackerel, eggs and mushrooms (grown in the sun).
*WILD caught salmon is substantially higher in vitamin D, not to mention much better for you! Ditch the farmed crap. In Australia look for frozen wild caught Alaskan salmon.

When it comes to supplements everything is NOT equal! There’s poor quality, good quality and great quality. Typically you get what you pay for. It’s important to know what you’re buying and putting into your body, in some cases you can be doing more harm than good, and in other cases simply wasting money on junk that’s not doing anything. But more on this another time.

When it comes to vitamin D I actually use a drop formula rather than capsules. One drop is equal to 1000IU, which is handy if high doses are required, extra drops is far easier than heaps of tablets! Plus there’s really no fillers, just the good stuff! Get in touch if you want to know more.

What are you going to do today to get some sunshine??

IMMUNE SUPERSTAR - Vitamin D//
In the previous post I discussed the many roles that vitamin D plays within the body. My focus today is on how this nutrient specifically assists the immune system and why it’s so important right now!

Experimental research and observational studies are consistent in finding vitamin D deficiency
