Vertigo - Semont manoeuvre

It is important to know what side ur vertigo is on

The Semont maneuver, like the Epley maneuver, aims to cure benign paroxysmal positional vertigo. Repeated treatments may be required and doctors often teach their patients the techniques if they get recurrent episodes. These maneuvers are designed to reposition otoliths in the posterior semicircular canals.

1. You are seated, turn your head so that it is halfway between looking straight ahead and looking away from the side that causes the worst vertigo.

2. Then lower yourself quickly to the side that causes the worst vertigo. When your head is on the table, you are looking up at the ceiling.

3. Hold you in this position for 30 seconds.

4. Quickly moves you to the other side of the table without stopping in the upright position. When your head is on the table, you are now looking down at the table.

5. Hold in this position for 30 seconds.

6. then h sit back up.

Vertigo - Epley manoeuvre ..

It is important to know what side u have vertigo on.

The Epley manoeuvre or repositioning maneuver is a manoeuvre used by medical professionals to treat one common cause of vertigo, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo of the posterior or anterior canals of the ear

To perform the Epley maneuver on yourself, follow the steps below. These directions are written for a problem on the left side. If you have a problem with the right side, follow the same steps, but turn your head in the opposite direction.

Step 1: Start sitting up on a bed, with your legs flat on the bed in front of you. Turn your head 45 degrees to the left.

Step 2: Lie down, keeping your head turned to the left. Wait 30 seconds.

Step 3: Turn your head to the right 90 degrees, until it’s facing 45 degrees to your right side. Wait 30 seconds.

Step 4: Roll over onto your right side before sitting up.

VERTIGO
Over the next week we are going to go over what, why and how to fix vertigo........below is a break down “WHAT”the 4 main vertigo types we will cover. Then we will go into exercises that will fix it.

1. Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo
(BPPV)

Is believed to be caused by calcium debris within the inner ear. Typically, a person with BPPV will describe a brief spinning sensation when moving their head in certain ways (e.g., tilting the head back to look up at the sky). Nausea may also be present, but rarely vomiting

2. Vestibular Labyrinthitis

also called vestibular neuronitis, is a viral or postviral inflammatory condition that affects the eighth cranial nerve—a.k.a. your vestibulocochlear nerve, which transmits sound and balance information from your ear to your brain.

This condition causes sudden, severe vertigo along with nausea, vomiting, and unstable walking

3. Ménière’s Disease

results from abnormal fluid buildup in the inner ear. It's associated with episodes of severe vertigo that last for minutes to hours, in addition to one-sided tinnitus, hearing loss, and ear fullness. Nausea, vomiting, and imbalance also commonly occur during the vertigo episodes

4. Otitis Media

(infection of the middle ear) may cause nonspecific dizziness in addition to ear pain and decreased hearing.

Rare Conditions

There are a few rare peripheral nervous system conditions that may cause vertigo as well

🎄 12 Days of Clientmass – Day 10 🎄

Day ten is all about Jemellah 💪

Jemellah has been training with Survivor Physiology for two years, and her journey is a true example of commitment and consistency. She doesn’t always feel like training — but she still shows up, and that says everything 👏

Through ongoing support, structured exercise, and individualised care, Jemellah continues to work on her health conditions and overall wellbeing. Being part of the NDIS, her sessions are about more than just exercise — they’re about confidence, independence, routine, and long-term health.

We absolutely love supporting Jemellah, along with all of our NDIS participants, and helping them navigate both their physical health and the supports that come with it 💙

Proud of you, Jemellah — showing up matters, and you do it every time 💪✨

🎄 12 Days of Client Wins – Day 8 🎄

Day eight is all about Kenley 💪

Kenley came to Survivor Physiology following a previous hip replacement, after completing her initial rehabilitation. Her goal was to build more strength — and she’s done exactly that. She’s now progressed to working on full-body strength, confidence, and overall capacity.

Kenley brings great energy to every session — always up for a laugh and genuinely enjoying her training, which makes the hard work even better 👏😄

Her consistency and positive attitude have played a huge role in how far she’s come, and it’s been awesome to support her journey.

We’re excited to keep building on this strong foundation and see what more Kenley can achieve 💙

Keep smiling and lifting, Kenley 💪✨
