Have you considered Cardiovascular Risk Screening? Preventing heart disease and heart attacks from occurring is a basic job of general practice. To do this, it is important to ensure cholesterol and blood pressure are normal. Knowing about your heart attack risk should start in your 40’s. Consider scheduling an appointment to review your heart disease risk if you are in your 40’s or 50’s and haven’t had a check-up in the last two years.

We are partnering with Macquarie University student Ashleigh throughout July on her research project. Ashleigh aims to increase the uptake of bowel cancer screening in our patients aged between 45-49 years.

Bowel cancer is Australia’s second biggest cancer killer. It kills more people in NSW than prostate cancer, breast cancer or melanoma. Despite this, currently only 40% of eligible people in NSW take part in the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program. Test kits are automatically sent to people when they turn 50, but from 45 yrs people can request a kit.

We are now in possession of some Home Test Kits and Ashleigh is messaging eligible patients to see if they'd like to participate. It's quick, easy, painless and free.

We are grateful for Ashleigh’s interest and enthusiasm and hope it will contribute to our goal of providing great health care.
