Imaging Associates (IA) and Imaging Associates Eastern (formerly known as Imaging Independently) are an independent diagnostic imaging practice which is owned and operated by a group of dedicated, highly specialised Radiologists. Imaging Associates has seven private clinics in Box Hill, Mitcham, Tecoma, the Baw Baw region and Wagga Wagga. Imaging Associates Eastern fulfills the medical imaging contract for Eastern Health at Angliss, Box Hill, Healesville and Maroondah Hospitals. IA and IAE are supported by the Imaging Associates Group, which provides management services and administrative support to these entities.

Ultrasound is a safe imaging technique using sound waves to visualise organs, muscles, and blood flow. Services include general scans as well as specialised musculoskeletal (MSK) imaging of the shoulder and knee. Appointments typically last 15–45 minutes, during which the sonographer applies a handheld transducer to capture precise images.

Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy is now available at Carlton Imaging Associates.

PRP is an autologous treatment derived from the patient’s own blood, concentrated to isolate platelets rich in growth factors. When injected into musculoskeletal tissue, PRP can modulate inflammation and promote healing through cellular signaling and tissue regeneration.

Common indications for referral include tendinopathies such as lateral epicondylitis, gluteal tendinopathy, and Achilles tendinopathy, as well as muscle injuries, ligament sprains, and plantar fasciitis. PRP is also used in the management of mild to moderate osteoarthritis, particularly of the knee, hip, and shoulder.

The procedure is performed under image guidance (ultrasound or CT) by our experienced interventional radiology team. Most patients require between one and three injections, spaced several weeks apart, and report symptomatic improvement within 4–6 weeks.

Our team is experienced in treating elite athletes and is trusted by the Carlton Football Club as their official radiology provider. We take a collaborative approach and ensure referrers are kept informed of treatment plans and outcomes.
