In today’s video, our team put their longevity to the test 👀

Introducing the Sit-to-Stand Test — one of the simplest indicators of mobility, balance, strength, flexibility and overall longevity 💪

Here’s how it works:

Start standing → sit on the floor → stand back up again…
❌ No hands
❌ No pushing off your knees
❌ No losing balance

The maximum score is 10 points:
✦ 5 points for sitting down
✦ 5 points for rising to standing

Deductions:
Subtract 1 point for each support used:
✧ Hand
✧ Forearm
✧ Knee
✧ Side of the leg
✧ Bracing a hand on the knee
AND - subtract 0.5 points for unsteady ex*****on or partial loss of balance.

TOTAL = Sitting Score + Standing Score

General interpretation (not a medical diagnosis*):
♥︎ 8–10: Excellent functional fitness
♥︎ 6–7: Good
♥︎ 3–5: Moderate risk / mobility limitations
♥︎ 0–2: High risk, requires support and further assessment

Your score reflects how well your spine, joints, muscles and nervous system work together. Improved mobility, alignment and balance often mean a better STS score 🦴✨

“Can you read my X-rays right now?” Here’s the real answer 👀

We get this question all the time — and Dr Winnie breaks it down perfectly in this video.

Reading X-rays and MRIs isn’t as simple as taking a quick look. Our chiropractors need to go through multiple steps to make sure nothing important is missed, including:

✦ Checking for pathology
We assess for fractures, abnormalities, tumours, or any signs that need urgent attention.

✦ Adjusting image settings
Contrast, angles, fand lipping the image — all to make sure every detail is visible.

✦ Measuring alignment
We look at spinal curves, scoliosis angles, pelvic balance, and how each segment is positioned.

✦ Interpreting MRI slices
MRIs are even more complex; there are hundreds of images viewed slide by slide, layer by layer.

📣 And here’s something many people don’t know… Australian chiropractors are fully trained and licensed in diagnostic imaging.

During their 5-year accredited university program, chiropractors complete:

✧ Radiology & imaging subjects (anatomy, pathology, radiation safety)
✧ Hands-on training in safely taking spinal X-rays
✧ Clinical experience reading images, writing formal radiology reports, and identifying red flags
✧ Licensing requirements to safely operate X-ray equipment under state radiation laws

Caring for a newborn is a full-body job; and without realising it, many new mums fall into habits that strain the spine, shoulders, and pelvis. Here are the most common posture mistakes (and simple ways to fix them) ✨

1️⃣ Cradling Baby on One Side
✅ Switch sides regularly and support baby with a pillow to reduce hip and shoulder imbalance.

2️⃣ Slouching While Feeding
✅ Bring baby up to you; use pillows, relax your shoulders, and keep your back supported.

3️⃣ Poor Lifting Posture (especially prams, car seats & washing baskets!)
✅ Bend your knees, keep your back straight, and engage your core before lifting.

4️⃣ Unsupported Sitting
✅ Choose chairs with good back support or place a rolled towel behind your lower back.

5️⃣ Lack of Core Activation
✅ Start with gentle, deep-breathing core exercises (no crunches!) and rebuild stability gradually.

Treat your home like a mini gym!
