It’s First Friday, and let’s be real—life is a bit mental right now. 🤪📚
Between school runs, new routines, and the general back-to-school chaos, the weeks are flying by. When the schedule gets this packed, the first thing we usually sacrifice is our social connection. We tell ourselves we’ll “catch up when things quiet down.”
But the truth is, things rarely quiet down.
Today is your reminder that connection doesn’t have to be a three-hour dinner or a weekend away. It’s a 30-second “How are you traveling?” text while you’re waiting in the school pick-up line or a quick five-minute chat over the fence.
Don’t let the busy season drown out the brotherhood. Take a breath, find a gap, and check in on a mate today.

Met with Ryan from Tribe Social Belonging today at the Tribe Clubhouse in Redcliffe, and wow—what a vibe! 🤙

From the second I walked through the door, I didn’t just feel like a guest; I instantly felt welcomed and part of the tribe. That’s exactly what these guys are about: connection and collaboration.

For those who don’t know, Tribe Social is doing incredible work right here in the Moreton Bay region. They aren’t just a service; they’re a community hub. Some of the ways they’re helping our local legends include:
👉 The Clubhouse: A safe, vibrant space for people to hang out, connect, and just be.
👉 Social Connection: Organising group outings and events that tackle isolation head-on.
👉 Skill Building: Helping people gain independence through practical, fun workshops.
👉 Active Lifestyle: Encouraging movement and health through community-led sports and activities.
Ryan and the gang are all about showing up for the community, and I’m so excited to be doing some good stuff with them in the near future. Watch this space! 🚀

At TGMC, we’re big believers in the power of community. That means looking out for your mates, but it also means supporting the local businesses that support us. 🤝
A massive shoutout to Mark and the team at Last year, they stepped up in a big way, donating an incredible raffle prize for our event that helped us raise vital funds for mental health connection.
It was great to have Mark out at the house last week quoting on a renovation! We love seeing our partners in action. If you’re looking to give your place a refresh, make sure you check out Reno Revivals. 🔨✨
Supporting those who support the cause—that’s what is all about.

Be kind to your mind. 🧠✨

We talk a lot at TGMC about checking in on our mates, but how often do you check in on yourself?

The "Commitment to Connection" includes the relationship you have with your own mental health. Being a good mate starts with being kind to your own mind—forgiving yourself for the bad days, setting boundaries when you're overwhelmed, and knowing when to reach out for a hand.

You can't pour from an empty cup. Take a breath, check your internal "battery," and remember that your mental health is a priority, not an afterthought.

"Listen" and "Silent" — Same letters, same goal.

If you're checking in on a mate today and things get heavy, don't panic. You don't need a script. Your value isn't in your advice; it's in your ears.

✅ Put the phone away.
✅ Make eye contact.
✅ Let the silence sit for a second.
✅ Just listen.

That’s how real connection happens.

🗓️ It's The First Friday Check-In! 🗓️

Stop scrolling for a second. Today is your official reminder to dedicate five minutes to a genuine connection.

We know life gets busy, but the commitment to connection is a simple one: reach out to that mate you haven't spoken to in a while. Ask a real question. Don't let distance or busy schedules stop you from being the support network someone might need.

Who are you checking in with today?

Tag a mate below to remind them to do the same!

Happy International Men's Day! 💙

Today, we celebrate the positive value men bring to their families, communities, and the world.

More than that, today is a vital reminder to prioritize the health and wellbeing of the men in our lives. At The Great Mate Check-In, we believe that true strength is not found in carrying the load alone—it’s found in connection and vulnerability.

Your challenge today is simple: reach out to a mate, ask them how they really are, and be ready to listen without judgment. That courage to ask and the strength to receive support is what the movement is all about.

Let's make every day an International Men's Day by committing to the check-in.

It's Movember , and we're ready to celebrate the growth!

We love the iconic commitment it takes to grow a Mo, but at The Great Mate Check-In, we champion the conversation that happens beneath it.

Just like growing a moustache, checking in with a mate takes effort, consistency, and a little bit of courage. It's the year-round commitment to connection that truly saves lives.

This month, let the Mo be your reminder: Don't just grow the hair—grow the dialogue. Ask the question, listen without judgment, and be ready to share your own vulnerability.

Happy World Kindness Day! 🌎

Today is a beautiful reminder of the power of a simple act: kindness.

For us at The Great Mate Check-In, kindness isn't just a gesture; it's a foundation for connection. It's in the quiet listening, the offered hand, and the courage to ask 'Are you okay?'

A little kindness can truly change someone's day, open up a conversation, or even be the lifeline someone needs. Let's make kindness the norm, every single day.

Hey, Team TGMC! We're thrilled to share the evolution of The Great Mate Check-In with our brand new logo!

As we transition to becoming a registered Not-For-Profit, we needed a logo that clearly communicates our focus on commitment and connection.

What the Logo Means?
The design is simple, but every element has purpose:

The Community Frame: The bold, squared outline represents the safe, inclusive community we are building. The outline is the space where the connections happen.

The Mission: The letters TGMC (The Great Mate Check-In) sit at the very heart of the frame, reminding us that our mission is our commitment.

The Conversation: The 'C' in TGMC contains a chat symbol—a crucial visual reminder that our mission is achieved through communicating and opening up a dialogue.

This new logo will guide us as we launch our Micro-Grants program and our new event schedule.
