Finding wheelchair accessible restaurants can be way harder than it should be. 💙

You start with good intentions, type in a simple search, and before you know it, you are on page three of Google thinking, how did I even end up here?

Half the time it is sponsored posts. The other half can be vague, outdated, or just not that helpful.

So we decided to do some digging ourselves and found something that is actually really useful.

OpenTable has a filter that lets you search specifically for wheelchair access, which makes it so much easier to explore restaurant options in a more practical and intentional way.

It is one of those simple little tools that can save a whole lot of time, frustration, and second-guessing when you are trying to plan a meal out.

If you are a participant, family member, carer, or support worker looking for a better place to start, this is well worth checking out.

Check page 2 of this post for the step-by-step instructions on how to use the filter.

This is what Easter is all about 💙

Our participants and team came together to celebrate, connect, and enjoy the day, and even when the weather tried to rain on our plans, the team quickly pivoted and made sure the fun didn’t stop.

From creative activities to plenty of laughs, it turned into one of those days that everyone will remember.

A special shoutout to Cathy, one of our amazing participants, and our support worker Lea, who created the Easter hats that brought so much colour and personality to the day 🐰

These are the moments we love most. Seeing people come together, feel included, and genuinely enjoy themselves.

If you would like to be part of days like this or learn more about what we do, send us a message.

Wishing you all a very happy Easter filled with love, joy, and a few special treats 💛

Hydrotherapy is one of those activities that can completely change how movement feels.

Warm water helps reduce pressure on the joints, supports body weight, and makes movement feel safer, easier, and more achievable. For many participants, it can be the difference between feeling stuck… and feeling capable again.

Hydrotherapy can support:
✔ mobility and strength
✔ pain relief and reduced tightness
✔ balance and coordination
✔ confidence to move again
✔ wellbeing and independence

If you’re looking for a provider offering hydrotherapy we have found a range of options across QLD, check the comments!

A big welcome to some of our newest team members, who recently came together for orientation and medication assistance training ahead of supporting participants from our SDA house in Zillmere 💙

The session was supported by our Registered Nurse team and included hands-on learning, practical training, and a strong introduction to the environment they will be working in. It was so great to see the energy, focus, and enthusiasm this team brought into the room.

Days like this are an important part of preparing our team well. They help staff build confidence, strengthen skills, and feel ready to step into their roles.

At Beacon Support, our staff are also backed by 24/7 Registered Nurse support, helping our team feel supported while participants continue to receive safe, high-quality care.

We are so excited to have you on board and cannot wait to see the care and commitment you bring.

Welcome to the team.

Looking for a fun Easter activity to try at home? 🐰

These painted Easter egg pebbles are a simple and creative way to enjoy some festive fun without relying on chocolate. They are easy to make, lovely to display, and can even be hidden around the house for a homemade Easter egg hunt.

What you will need:
🔹 Smooth rocks or pebbles, ideally egg-shaped
🔹 Acrylic paint in pastel colours
🔹 A medium paintbrush
🔹 A small paintbrush for details
🔹 Cotton tips
🔹 A paint palette or small plate
🔹 Paper towel or newspaper to protect your table

How to make them:
Step 1: Wash and dry your rocks.
Step 2: Paint each one in a soft pastel base colour and let it dry fully.
Step 3: Add your Easter patterns and designs using stripes, zigzags, dots, squiggles, flowers, or cute little faces.
Step 4: Use cotton tips to make the dots and small details easier.
Step 5: Leave the rocks to dry completely.
Step 6: Hide them around the house or display them as part of your Easter decorations.

It is simple, hands-on, and a fun way to enjoy some Easter creativity together. If you make your own, send us pics. We would love to see what you create 🎨

Thinking about trying work experience or volunteering but not sure where to start? 💙🙌

Here’s the thing… work doesn’t have to look the same for everyone, and that’s a GOOD thing.

Work experience and volunteering can be an amazing way to:
✨ build confidence
💼 try a real workplace environment
🤝 meet new people
📈 learn skills that help open future doors

It can be a small step, a big step, or somewhere in between. What matters most is that it feels right for YOU.
