International Women’s Day is about recognising the women who inspire us and the impact women have in our workplaces and communities.

Members of the Beacon Support team shared their reflections.

Cass Robinson, speaking about Pink, shared:

“What makes her especially inspiring is how she consistently promotes self-acceptance, strength, and individuality. She has used her platform to challenge beauty standards, advocate for equality, and encourage young women to embrace who they are unapologetically.”

Kinder Bassi reflected on uplifting women in the workplace:

“I believe uplifting other women starts with intention. I actively create spaces where women feel heard, valued, and confident in expressing their ideas.”

Tayler Perry shared advice for young women entering nursing:

“Believe in your voice and your value. Nursing is both emotionally and intellectually demanding, and your perspective matters.”

Sidney Pauga reflected on working alongside strong women:

“I’m often reminded that I’m not the smartest person in the room and I’m genuinely grateful for the opportunity to learn from the wisdom, insight, and strength of the remarkable women around me.”

Kerry Atkins shared the advice she would give to young women entering the workforce:

“I would say to them that there will be challenges and there will be struggles but believe in yourself and work hard and you can achieve anything.”

Happy International Women’s Day to the women who inspire us every day.

What a beautiful day of connection at our Beacon Support Participant Meet Up. 💙

Participants came together to decorate cookies, share laughs, enjoy a relaxed activity and spend time getting to know each other. Moments like giving roses, chatting around the table and celebrating creativity made the day extra special.

These gatherings are held every month and are open to participants and their families. Each event includes a free activity designed to encourage connection, creativity and a sense of belonging.

It’s always amazing to see friendships forming and people simply enjoying being together in a welcoming space.

Thank you to everyone who joined us, we are already counting down for the next one. 😊

MEET THE TEAM 💙

Introducing Monica Humphries, one of our amazing Support Workers here at Beacon Support.

Monica has been with us for 2.5 years and moved into disability support after working in aged care, because she wanted to make a real difference in people’s day to day lives.

Her favourite part of the role is seeing the progress participants make when the support team works together.

One of Monica’s proudest moments was helping a participant gain the confidence to catch public transport independently, which made it possible for them to enjoy an exciting day out at Movie World. 🎢

We’re so grateful to have Monica on our team. 👏

Support doesn’t always mean forever. Sometimes it’s about the right help, at the right time.

Disability equipment hire can be a practical option when needs are temporary, unexpected, or still being worked through. It gives people access to mobility and support equipment without rushing into permanent decisions.

We often see equipment hire used during:
✔️ Short recovery periods
✔️ Temporary declines in mobility
✔️ Care transitions or hospital discharge
✔️ Trialling equipment to see what works best

At Beacon Support, we believe support should be flexible, responsive, and centred around the person. Life changes, and support should be able to change with it.

If you would like more information about this and how it might benefit you or those around you, you can contact your NDIS Support Co-Ordinator or LAC for more information.

💦 There’s something powerful about water.

Adaptive Aquatics, delivered by the amazing team at Sporting Wheelies, creates space for people to move, learn and build confidence in a way that feels safe, supportive and achievable. From learning to swim, to improving strength, mobility and coordination, every session is tailored to the individual.

The pool environment reduces pressure on the body while opening up new ways to move, stay active and feel confident, especially in the Queensland heat ☀️

At Beacon Support, we’re proud to support participants to access programs like this and enjoy meaningful, confidence-building experiences in the community.

Spending time outdoors should be accessible to everyone 🌿

We’re highlighting pram and wheelchair accessible spaces across Southeast Queensland, including Toohey Forest, Rocks Riverside Promenade, Robelle Domain, Daisy Hill Koala Centre, Piccabeen Walk, and Buderim Boardwalk.

Accessible parks and trails help remove barriers so more people can enjoy fresh air, nature, social connection, and everyday outings in their local community.

Some may see this as competition. We share the same view as Ward Sheehan, this is collaboration 💙

Ward shared a story about our very own Helen that perfectly reflects the values we stand for at Beacon Support. Helen created space to welcome another care provider into her local area, not to promote herself or our organisation, but because the focus was on what’s best for the person receiving care.

That mindset takes confidence, integrity and a genuine commitment to outcomes over ego.

Thank you, Ward, for sharing this moment. We’re incredibly proud to say Helen is part of Beacon Support, and grateful that you chose to highlight leadership that puts people first.

👉 You’ll find Ward’s original post linked in the comments.

We are SO excited to welcome our newest care team members to Beacon Support 💙

There is something really special about watching our team grow, because it means more people are being supported, more consistency is being created, and more lives are being impacted in a positive way.

At Beacon Support, we firmly believe that the best care starts with the best onboarding experience. That’s why our training is not surface-level theory. We invest in hands-on, practical learning so our support workers feel confident, competent, and supported to do their role well.

Because when our team feel prepared, it benefits everyone. It empowers the person delivering the care, and it ensures the participant receiving care is supported with dignity, safety, and real quality.

To our newest team members, welcome aboard. We’re proud to have you here, and we can’t wait to see the beautiful impact you’ll make.
