Our optometrist Audrey recently had the pleasure of meeting with some local GPs to share some of her optometry knowledge and educate about certain eye diseases.

At Bayside Eyecare, we are passionate about ensuring that everyone has access to eye health care.

We appreciate and value the opportunity to share our knowledge with different healthcare professionals, and assist in helping them give their patients the best care possible. We will always jump at the chance to share our knowledge and improve overall eyecare for the community!

Children may not always display or communicate changes in their vision clearly, which is why it’s important to know what to look out for.

Some common signs can include:
• Squinting or rubbing their eyes
• Headaches after reading or concentrating
• Holding books or screens very close
• Losing their place while reading
• Avoiding close work

If you’ve noticed any of these behaviours, a simple eye exam can help identify potential vision concerns that may impact learning.

On World Optometry Day, we reflect on the important role optometry plays in supporting community health and wellbeing.

Optometry is more than prescribing glasses. It is a profession grounded in clinical expertise, early detection and the ongoing management of eye conditions.

Each day, we work to help protect vision and support the eye health of our patients, with the aim of improving quality of life.

Thank you for the continued trust placed in our care, and thank you to our amazing optometrists at Bayside Eyecare.

Swipe through to learn how glaucoma affects the eyes, why it can be serious if left untreated, and how regular eye exams may play a crucial role in early detection.
