Today we stand together on , International Day of People with Disability.
On this day, we celebrate the strength, diversity, and contributions of the 5.5 million Australians with disability.

We believe in:
- Inclusion - Everyone deserves a seat at the table
- Understanding - Sharing lived experiences and learning from them
- Respect - Valuing different ways of being, without placing limit

This year’s theme (UN) is about fostering disability-inclusive societies to advance social progress, a reminder that societal change starts with all of us.

Join us:
- Share a story of someone you admire who has disability
- Learn more via idpwd.com.au
- Take action: challenge outdated perceptions, advocate for better accessibility, and push for change in your community

Because when we all belong, we all thrive. 💙

How to Make the Most of Your Appointment at Brighton Regional Doctors

Whether it’s a quick check-up or something more complex, here’s how to get the best out of your visit:

1. Mention all of your symptoms – Even things that feel unrelated or minor can help your doctor build a clearer picture of what’s going on.

2. Book a longer appointment if needed – If you have a few things to discuss or a more complex issue, give yourself (and your doctor) the time to properly work through it.

3. Be open and honest – Your doctor is here to help, not judge. The more honest you are, the better they can support your health.

4. Have a backup doctor at the clinic – If your regular GP isn’t available, it's good to feel comfortable seeing someone else on the team who knows your history.

5.Book a follow-up appointment – Don’t let things get forgotten. Follow-ups help you stay on track with results, treatments or ongoing care.

It’s your time – make it count. We’re here to support you every step of the way

Breast Cancer Awareness Month (BCAM) takes place every October. The aim of the BCAM is to shine a light on the devastating impact breast cancer has on thousands of Australians each day.

Every year over 21,000 people in Australia (including around 200 men) will be diagnosed with breast cancer.
Every day 58 people in Australia will be diagnosed with breast cancer.

Every year over 3,300 people in Australia (including 33 men) will die from breast cancer. That’s someone’s mother, sister, friend or family member whose life has been tragically cut short because of the disease.

Although the five-year survival rate has increased from 76% to 92% (and rising) since 1994 thanks to research, there is still progress to be made to stop deaths from breast cancer. By targeting the remaining 8% who don’t live past this survival rate, NBCF’s goal is to reach Zero Deaths from breast cancer.

28/09/2025

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the world’s number one killer. Combined, conditions affecting the heart or blood vessels, such as heart attack, stroke and heart failure, kill more than 20.5 million every year. The majority of these deaths happen in low- and middle-income countries.

We want to bring this number down, way down. And there’s hope: 80% of premature deaths from CVD are preventable. By making small changes to our lifestyle, what we eat and drink, how much we exercise, and how we manage stress, we can better manage our heart health and beat CVD.

Spring allergies are here!
As plants bloom, they release pollen into the air - and for many people, the immune system mistakes it as a threat. This triggers the classic symptoms of hay fever: sneezing, watery eyes, and congestion.

The good news? Our GPs can help with treatment options to keep you comfortable this season.
Don’t suffer through it – book an appointment today.
