Business or Busy-ness?
I had a little moment the other day…
I realised the word business is literally busy-ness.

And I laughed, but then I thought, no wonder so many of us feel like we’re constantly chasing our tails. We built something we love, but somewhere along the way, we started believing that being busy meant we were being successful.

But busy isn’t the goal.
Presence is.
Connection is.
Purpose is.

I don’t want a business that runs on busyness.
I want a business that breathes, that gives space for creativity, clarity, and calm.

Because when I’m not caught up in the busy, that’s when I lead best.

This week, Emily and I dive into what it really means to end the year with intention: choosing clarity over chaos, letting your goals shape who you’re becoming, and grounding yourself instead of burning out.

When children move with purpose and imagination, they’re not just exercising, they’re learning how to organise their body, regulate their energy, and connect with the world around them.

We need to be lead by them, layer in therapy rather than the other way.

We need to play with them.

Every playful push, reach, or stretch lays the foundation for strength, focus, and resilience.

Movement is where development begins and where confidence grows.

Pushing the Pancake!

This one’s always a hit in our sessions, it's fun, functional, and full of development opportunites.

When kids push the carriage to “flip the pancake,” they’re not just playing. They’re building core stability, shoulder control, coordination, and postural awareness while engaging every area of their development.

We call on motor, cognitive, sensory, social-emotional, and language systems all at once. It’s the perfect example of how movement tells us so much about what’s happening underneath and how we can use play to build strength and confidence.

It’s also great for proprioceptive input and those kids who love a bit of “heavy work.”

Simple setup. Endless creativity. Powerful outcomes.✨

Don't forget I have just added these reformer exercises to my exercise database!

I heard someone say, “Action is the solution to anxiety.”

And it stopped me in my tracks.

If action is the solution to anxiety, then that’s probably why I’ve been so burnt out.

Because I’ve been acting to manage the anxiety, instead of understanding it.

I realised that all the system-building, planning, and organising (even though they’re amazing tools) can sometimes become a way to avoid stillness.

So now, I’m practicing:
1. Sitting with discomfort, letting the space be uncomfortable.
2. Trusting that it will be okay, even when I don’t have control.
3. Building systems and delegating, not from anxiety, but from alignment - setting others up for success so I can lead from calm, not chaos.

Systems give structure. Stillness gives strength.

And when they work together, that’s where sustainable leadership lives.

In case you missed this week’s episode…

Sometimes the best therapy is the one that meets the child where they actually are not where we planned to go.

Emily and I dive into the end-of-year chaos every parent, teacher, and pediatric professional knows too well when routines slip, kids get tired, and regulation feels impossible.

Imagine a world where we viewed behaviour for what it really is: communication.

Not something to be punished, controlled, or “fixed,” but a message about what a child is feeling, needing, or struggling to process.

Would you respond differently if you knew that the screaming, throwing, or shutting down wasn’t defiance, but a sign of distress? That it actually meant, “I’m maxed out. I’m in fight or flight. I don’t feel safe right now, and I don’t know what to do with all these feelings.”

When we understand that behaviour is the outward expression of an inner experience, we shift from reacting to responding. We begin to see the child, not just the behaviour. And that’s where real regulation, learning, and connection start to happen.

In our therapy sessions and early learning environments, this understanding changes everything. Movement, play, and relational safety become our tools to help children find calm, build trust, and grow skills in regulation and communication.

It’s not about managing behaviour. It’s about understanding the message behind it and giving children what they truly need to feel seen, safe, and supported.

Movement can tell us so much, if we can understand what it is telling us.
When really look, we start to understand the child behind it.

In paediatric therapy, movement isn’t just physical - it’s communication, regulation, emotion, and development all woven together.

Our role as therapists is to read that story, to see what each stretch, jump, or reach reveals and to use movement as both insight and intervention.

Movement has meaning. When we tune in, we can truly support the whole child.

This is what my CDPP course does, it gives you that knowledge, and Pilates for Paeds gives you the exercises.
