A proud moment for HWQ and the future of optometry in the Tablelands! 👓

Today our North Queensland Health Workforce Connector, Renae Massa, had her eyes checked. Finally, we can stop hearing about how everything is so blurry!

More exciting than this though, Renae’s check-up was with Louis Huynh, a 5th and final year UQ optometry student who was also part of our first GROW Rural North Queensland cohort. Louis is currently completing his placement with George & Matilda Eyecare at Atherton Optometrist.

Placements like these are so important in supporting the next generation of eye care professionals and helping students gain real-world clinical experience. It’s wonderful to see Louis back in the Tablelands and George & Matilda Eyecare playing a part in shaping the future of regional eye care.

Thank you to Renae for supporting a future optometrist and thank you Louis for helping Renae finally see her computer screen so she can get some work done! 👀
