Tune into ABC Radio National at 4.15pm today to listen to Dr Daniel Brown discuss all things s*x in Australia.

Despite a high number of lifetime s*xual partners compared to the rest of the world, Australians are having less s*x than they used to. One expert says that is because we are more interested in our phones.

One of our directors, Dr Daniel Brown, had the pleasure of interviewing Emeritus Professor Susan Spence AO and Adjunct Professor Roger Dooley AM in his role as Chair of the QLD Clinical Psychology Committee of the Australian Psychological Society. The interview, Reflections of a Distinguished Career in Psychology, will help inform early and mid-career psychologists of the trials and tribulations of creating an impactful career as a clinical psychologist.

So often we hear "I wish I didn't feel X or Y or Z emotion". However, emotions are important aspect of the human experience and serve a function. A therapist can never *get rid* of an emotion however, we can help you learn to regulate distressing emotions and build a better relationship with your emotions. Has your psychologist spoken about activity scheduling?

Scheduling activities is a valuable emotional regulation skill. Whilst it is important to learn skills and techniques to tolerate and regulate distressing emotions, we also need to increase the frequency and likelihood of experiencing pleasant emotions. The way we do this is to schedule activities that are likely to prompt those emotions and thought processes. However, if we only focus on scheduling fun-based tasks then we miss out on the emotions and experiences of mastery-based tasks, such as feeling competent, sense of achievement or a sense of being challenged.

Next time you are scheduling activities, try to have a mix of fun and mastery based tasks.
