Shark Bite has been a crowd favourite in sessions lately!

This little game has popped up in almost every therapy session over the past fortnight and the kids are loving it.

Some of the ways we’ve been using it in speech sessions include:

⭐ Supporting fluency during Lidcombe Program practice sessions
⭐ Practising speech sounds (like /ch/ in catch)
⭐ Targeting action words – catching, fishing, eating, chomping, biting
⭐ Practising turn-taking in games
⭐ Building describing skills – colours, fish sizes, spiky fish and more

Play-based therapy allows us to practise important communication skills while children are engaged, motivated, and having fun 💬

✨ Medicare Update for Speech Pathology (from March 2026) ✨

Medicare is expanding the M10 pathway to include speech pathology for people with:
• Stuttering
• Persistent speech sound disorders (including Childhood Apraxia of Speech)
• Speech differences related to cleft lip and/or palate

Eligible children and young people under 25 may access:
✔️ Up to 8 assessment sessions
✔️ Up to 20 therapy sessions
✔️ $87.25 Medicare rebate per session

To access this pathway, you’ll need a referral from your GP, paediatrician or specialist.

Strong literacy skills support confidence, learning across all subjects, and a child’s ability to share their ideas with the world. From early phonological awareness to sounding out words, spelling and comprehension, each step builds the foundation for lifelong learning.

Our speech pathologist, Caiti, is trained in delivering structured, evidence-based literacy support that aligns with how children learn to read and spell. Sounds-Write is one such synthetic phonics approach grounded in research and designed to support all learners — including those who may be finding reading and spelling tricky.
