With Easter just around the corner, there’s a bit of excitement in the air 🐣

It’s a time for slowing down, enjoying the simple things, and spending time with the people who matter most - whether that’s sharing a meal, getting outdoors, or maybe even enjoying a few too many chocolate eggs.

Across our services, we’re looking forward to a weekend filled with connection, laughter, and those small moments that make days like this special.

For some, it might be a relaxed morning, for others a busy day with family - but however it looks, we hope it’s a good one 💛

Over the past little while, Allison has been doing a lot of travelling ✈️

Audits have had her heading off to different places, which has meant early mornings, time away, and plenty of kilometres in the air.

While she takes it all in her stride, we know it’s always nice to be back on home ground.

With this next stretch looking a little quieter, Allison is looking forward to staying local for a few weeks - spending more time with the team, dropping into services, and catching up with everyone in person.

Sometimes it’s the simple things, like being close to home, that are the most appreciated 💙

Why days like Billy’s matter 💙

Last week we shared Billy’s kayaking adventure - a simple idea that turned into a great day out on the water.

Experiences like this are about much more than just a fun outing. Getting outdoors, trying new activities and connecting with others can help build:
🛶 Confidence
🛶 Independence
🛶 Social connection
🛶 Physical wellbeing

Billy spent the day kayaking, swimming, spotting wildlife and chatting with people along the shoreline - all things that support wellbeing and community engagement.

Sometimes the most meaningful supports start with a simple conversation:
"I’d really like to get outside more."

Billy had been saying he really wanted to spend more time outdoors - so when a day out on the water was suggested, he was all in!

After grabbing a coffee for a little pick-me-up, they strapped the kayak to the roof and headed to the reservoir for what turned out to be a beautiful day. Billy helped carry the kayak down to the water (because...teamwork makes the dream work 💪), and after a quick stop at the wildlife centre to check out some very cool stick insects, it was time to launch!

Billy was a natural on the kayak, cruising across the water, hopping out for swims, and soaking up the sunshine. Along the way they spotted turtles and birds, played a cheerful game of “coooeeey” with people on the shoreline, and shared plenty of waves and smiles with others enjoying the water.

After an hour and a half of adventure, exploring and connecting, they headed back in for a well-earned lunch.

At Pathways Support Services, we love supporting our participants to try new experiences, build confidence, and enjoy the great outdoors.

Recently, during a routine annual visit from the Office of the Public Guardian, one of their Community Visitors shared some incredibly kind feedback about one of the people we support.
