I am back đź‘‹ Day 1 back at work. How about you? How are you feeling?

19/12/2025

My 2025 wrap up and thanks to you.

See you in 2026 for more midlife care for you 🧡🌻🙏

Wishing you a holiday season of enough of what you need 🎄🧡🙏

Part 2 of 2

As I head into a couple of weeks of rest and renewal, this quote feels like a gentle anchor.

Happiness doesn’t come from perfect circumstances or perfecting ourselves.

It grows when we learn to love ourselves — strength, struggle, joy, and all.

Part 1 of a two-part reflection 🌻

If you’re resting but still exhausted, this might be the missing piece.

Pacing isn’t about doing less — it’s about using your energy wisely so burnout doesn’t keep repeating itself.

My holiday gift for you 🎄 To truly listen to yourself in a way that you feel heard, seen and validated.

You can do this through a journal practice. Write Dear Self and then tune into and write first what is showing up in your body, next what you are feeling, and what is on your mind. Meet this with mindful self compassion - non judgemental awareness, loving and kindness. This may look like, what do we need right now that I can give you?

Mindful self compassionate journaling is my gift to you to truly listen to yourself now and into the rest of your life. A helpful resource to support this practice can be found at www.self-compassion.org/exercises/exercise-6-self-compassion-journal

Take gentle care of you 🧡🌻

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength while loving someone deeply gives you courage. So, if we love ourselves and accept the love from within, we will have strength and courage - Lao Tzu

How did I do that?

Parental burnout is something many parents carry quietly.

It’s more than everyday stress or feeling tired — it can show up as deep exhaustion, emotional disconnection, loss of joy, and the painful sense of not being the parent you used to be or want to be.

In the latest Midlife Reclaimed episode, I’m joined by clinical psychologist Dr Katy Hill to explore what parental burnout really is, how it develops, and why so many loving, devoted parents are struggling under the weight of modern expectations.

We talk about:
• how parental burnout differs from everyday stress
• the core signs to look out for
• the impact on wellbeing, relationships, and family life
• perfectionism and the pressure to “do it all”
• and compassionate, evidence-based pathways toward recovery

If parenting feels heavier than it used to, or you’ve had that quiet thought of “what’s changed in me?” — this episode will help you feel seen, understood, and less alone.

Parenting was never meant to be done without rest, support, and community 🧡

I’ve just come back from a break — both from social media and into a deeper sense of “home” within myself. 🌱

A silent nature retreat focused on mindful self-compassion reminded me of the heart of midlife: slowing down, listening inward, and returning to the parts of ourselves we’ve abandoned along the way.

When we’re home, we show up with more purpose and clarity.

I’d love to hear your reflections — what helps you return home to you?
