The first week after New year is a time for me to rest my soul. Doing things that don’t stress my nervous system.
My husband brought me a jigsaw puzzle for my birthday last May and we got it out and started it last night.
We’ve decided to give our eyes one hour before bed with no blue screen.
As I sat there sorting pieces into colour piles I felt my mother Merle, my aunty Hazel and my grandma Claris, sitting around the table with me. I was thrown back in my mind to when I was 6 years old and having trouble putting the pieces together.
My mother said you’re really good with colours. Why don’t you just put all the matching colours into little piles. I found that I was really good at it and it made me feel really important to this day one of the greatest joys of doing a puzzle is putting the coloured pieces into a pile. I love it because it takes me back to my family on holidays or gathered around the table table playing games.
What a lovely way to start the New Year but to sit with my ancestors and play a game. Love Saren 🙏💓💝
