March 8-14th is World Glaucoma Week! Glaucoma is a group of related eye disorders, resulting in progressive damage to the optic nerve and loss of peripheral vision. During world glaucoma week, we’re reminding our community that glaucoma can progress silently, but early detection can protect sight.
During your comprehensive examination, we assess for glaucoma by checking eye pressure, examining the optic nerve, performing advanced retinal imaging, and testing your peripheral vision.
Family history is one of the strongest risk factors for developing glaucoma. If a parent or sibling has glaucoma, your risk is significantly higher. This World Glaucoma Week, we’re encouraging families to talk about their eye health history! So, if you or a loved one are due for an eye exam, we would love to see you! Preventative care today supports healthy vision for years to come.
