We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Occupational Therapy students from SQRH - Southern Queensland Rural Health, Hannah Lenton and Rieley Bloor, to our Illoura Village home in Chinchilla as part of their placement.

During their time with us, the students ran a lovely intergenerational session and organised a pop-up shop with our residents. These activities brought plenty of smiles, great conversations and meaningful connections across generations.

Moments like these are truly special for our community and also play an important role in supporting the learning journey of future health professionals.

Thank you to the SQRH students for sharing your time and enthusiasm with our residents. We loved having you here! 💙

Today we celebrate the incredible women who are part of our Southern Cross Care community. Our residents have lived through many chapters of life, and their wisdom and strength continue to inspire us every day.

A little bit of whimsy brightened our week as our Stretton Gardens residents enjoyed a special Dr Seuss Week high tea! 🎩📚

Residents enjoyed a lovely afternoon together with sweet treats and tea. The famous hat and bow tie from The Cat in the Hat made a special appearance too, bringing smiles and a playful touch to the celebration.

For those who may not know, Dr Seuss Week celebrates the joy of reading and storytelling, reminding us that a little imagination can brighten any day! ✨

Our Harold Williams residents in Broken Hill have been enjoying something very special lately – beautiful portraits created just for them by our staff! 🎨💛

Some residents even got hands-on, painting their own portraits and seeing themselves come to life on paper. It’s been wonderful to witness their delight and pride in these unique creations, and the joy they bring when shared with friends and family.

Art has a magical way of capturing personality, memories, and smiles. And at Harold Williams, it’s certainly sparking plenty of them! 🌟

Last week, a busload of our Chinchilla residents enjoyed a lovely morning outing to the Chinchilla Weir for morning tea. 🚌 Surrounded by peaceful water views and nature, it was the perfect setting to relax, chat and share a few laughs together. 🌿

Outings like these are such a special way to connect with nature and each other. Thank you to our lifestyle team for organising such a special outing! 🩵

🎉🎂 Celebrating 100 incredible years!

In January, our much-loved Peggy celebrated an incredible 100th birthday, surrounded by the caring community she has been part of at our Karinya aged care home since July 2024.

Peggy’s wonderful sense of humour continues to bring smiles to everyone around her. When asked for her best advice, she simply shared: “Always be honest.”

We were also delighted to see Peggy receive a special letter from King Charles and Queen Camilla, marking this milestone. 👑 Happy 100th Peggy! Thank you for the laughter, warmth and wisdom you share with us every day. 💙

Yesterday was Shrove Tuesday, a special day to enjoy sweet treats before the season of Lent begins! 🥞✨

Across our homes, residents and staff shared the simple joy of freshly cooked pancakes and the warm connections that come with it. At our Edens Landing home, some residents joined in the fun by helping to make some delicious pancakes topped with maple syrup and berries.

Thank you to our team who continue this tasty tradition alive each year! 🙌

Last weekend, our aged care homes were full of love as residents and staff came together to celebrate Valentine's Day. 🌹✨

It was a special time to honour enduring love and mark milestones that warm the heart – including a huge congratulations to Robert and Dorothy from Caloundra aged care home on their 65th wedding anniversary! 💕

Thank you to our amazing staff for helping create a day full of love and joy!

💖 This Valentine’s Day, we’re celebrating Allan and Nancy Schafer, who have shared an incredible 70 years of marriage since 1955!

Allan and Nancy first met through local soccer and dance, and that sense of community has shaped their lives ever since. Together, they raised three children and are now proud grandparents to nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Now residents at Caloundra aged care home, Allan and Nancy continue to brighten our days with their warmth and friendliness. Their bond is a beautiful reminder that true love grows stronger with time.

Happy Valentine’s Day to Allan and Nancy, and to everyone celebrating love in all its forms. 💕
