Dr Wesley Chan’s journey into medicine began with a background in biochemistry before completing his medical degree at the University of Queensland.

He also holds additional qualifications in cosmetic medicine through the Australasian College of Cosmetic Surgery, and a postgraduate certification in ultrasound, supporting his work in both procedural and aesthetic care.

Over time, his work naturally evolved toward two areas that often impact how people feel day to day. Skin health and weight management.

From skin checks and early detection of skin cancer, to supporting patients through their weight loss journey, Dr Wesley Chan focuses on practical, personalised care that addresses both health and confidence.

✨New Doctor Spotlight: Meet Dr Julian Fox✨ MB ChB, Dip Skin Cancer, DRCOG (London), Dip Therapeutics, MRCGP (London), FRACGP

Now welcoming new patients, Dr Julian Fox has recently joined the care team at Next Practice Newstead!

Dr Julian is a highly experienced General Practitioner whose career spans both the United Kingdom and Australia. Over the decades he has developed broad clinical expertise in longevity medicine, metabolic and preventative health, skin cancer medicine, and minor procedures including vasectomy, while helping patients take a more proactive approach to their long-term wellbeing.

Dr Julian holds multiple postgraduate medical qualifications including Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners in London and Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners. He also holds the Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London (DRCOG). In addition, he has completed further diplomas in skin cancer medicine and clinical therapeutics, reflecting his commitment to continued professional development and comprehensive patient care.

In recent years Dr Julian has developed a strong interest in longevity medicine, supporting patients who want to optimise metabolic health, maintain vitality and focus on long-term wellbeing rather than only treating illness.

To deepen this interest, Dr Julian spent nearly two years travelling internationally, exploring emerging approaches to preventative health and longevity medicine. Through this experience he has broadened his approach to supporting patients who want to optimise their health and age well.

Many patients may also recognise Dr Julian as The Possibility Coach, where he shares insights on preventative medicine, longevity science and practical strategies that empower people to take greater control of their health.

This weekend our Care Team at Next Practice Newstead spent two full days learning together at the BFD MBS Education for General Practice Workshop here in Brisbane.

The workshop was held at the InterContinental Hotel Brisbane and brought together hundreds of attendees from across the Brisbane community. It was a fantastic opportunity not only to learn, but also to connect with other healthcare teams who are equally committed to improving patient care.

Our Care Team attended together, including our doctors, nurses and management team. We chose to give up our weekend to invest in learning so we can continue improving the care we provide to our patients.

The workshop focused on the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) and the government rebates available for different medical services. Understanding the MBS properly helps ensure patients receive the care they need while also accessing the rebates they are entitled to.

By strengthening our understanding of the MBS system, our clinical, nursing and management team have now completed dedicated training in the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS). This type of training is not commonly undertaken by entire clinic teams, but we believe understanding the system properly allows us to better support our patients and advocate for them within the ever-changing healthcare system.

We also had a lot of fun along the way.

At the end of the workshop there was a quiz competition, and we are proud to say the Next Practice Newstead Team took home all the top prizes:
