Oh my stars ⭐️!!! Look what arrived today, and I LOVE them.

I sadly had to retire my black lace up Frankie4 β€œEllie’s” after 4 + years of service (and I really put them through their paces) and decided to go in a different direction.

These are from Bared Footwear - sadly they are not stocked in a retail outlet in Brisbane but their online ordering is super easy and delivery swift via www.bared.com.au

So impressed firstly by their presentation and inclusions. The shoes come with a really lovely removable cushioned insole inside, with a built in metatarsal dome and cuboid notch. They supplied a white and black pair of laces. And the awesome part is the β€œfit kit” with an additional insole and forefoot padding with instructions on how to use the insoles to accomodate at narrow or wide foot.

The toe box is round and roomy and there is great depth in these shoes if you have custom foot orthoses to fit in.

They are sleek and smart for work, and great with jeans and skirts for the weekend - the stars are a sweet touch. My feet can’t wait to wear them!

P.S. I paid for these like any other retail customer, I wish I was cool enough to receive freebies πŸ˜‚

An important reminder to have your regular diabetic neurovascular foot assessment. Podiatrists are here to keep your feet healthy for life. Let us take care of your foot care needs.

Wishing Aussie icon, Bert Newton, a fast recovery after undergoing an amputation surgery on the weekend.
Our thoughts are with Bert and Patti and their family during this difficult time.

This is such an important reminder that diabetes-related foot complications are serious. People with diabetes should have regular foot checks. Many foot problems are preventable if detected early.

Do your feet hurt In your thongs and sandals?

Check out the Foot Bio-Tec pop-up shop at Taigum shopping centre this weekend (excluding Sunday) and all next week.

They are supportive, durable, reasonably priced and have a great range of styles to suit most tastes.

Let there be cake! Thanks Carseldine Doctors for my β€œcake day” cake. It was delicious πŸ˜‹.

- IMPORTANT UPDATE ON COVID-19 VACCINES FOR PEOPLE WITH DIABETES -

We have received confirmation from the Department of Health that all adults living with diabetes will be included in Phase 1b of the COVID-19 vaccine rollout, which will begin on March 22.

This is something we advocated for and we are glad the government has responded.

Diabetes Australia, the Australian Diabetes Society and Australian Diabetes Educators Association are encouraging all adults with diabetes to get vaccinated against COVID-19 as soon as the vaccine is available.

The COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective and have been approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration’s (TGA) rigorous testing process. Both vaccines currently approved by the TGA (Astra Zeneca and Pfizer) are suitable for use in adults living with diabetes.

You can find more information about the vaccine roll-out here: https://www.health.gov.au/initiatives-and-programs/covid-19-vaccines/getting-vaccinated-for-covid-19/when-will-i-get-a-covid-19-vaccine

Each State/Territory government is responsible for administering vaccinations. For up-to-date information on vaccination locations please check with your State or Territory Department of Health.
