Helen Walker Occupational Therapy is a mobile disability services provider operating in the Southern Suburbs of Greater Brisbane.

Services are provided to privately funded and PLAN and SELF-managed NDIS clients from newborn to 65 years of age. Helen Walker Occupational Therapy is a mobile Occupational Therapy and Social Work services provider operating primarily across the Southern suburbs and South of Greater Brisbane, QLD. Our service delivery area includes city suburbs (incorporating inner North city suburbs), Redland Bay, Logan City, Richlands. Please contact directly for applications for service delivery outside of this area or check our website for service area map. Clinical supervision and mentoring is also offered face to face, on location and/or remotely. Tailored organisational training is also available to suit your team or organisation's learning needs. Services are delivered in community locations which could include: your home; Supported Independent Living accommodations; childcare; school; day service provider; shopping centre; vacation-care; equipment supplier or other identified community settings. Our team delivers services to clients from newborn to approximately 65 years of age across a wide range of disabilities and health conditions. Early childhood intervention and adolescent services are delivered across all functional impacts and diagnoses. Adolescent/adult services are primarily focussed on psychosocial disabilities and mental health needs, intellectual impairment, neurological conditions and emotional regulation and sensory processing needs. Our team has particular expertise in providing contributions for clients with (or requiring) Positive Behaviour Support Plans. We provide: assessment (including Functional Capacity Assessments and sensory processing recommendations); equipment (Assistive Technology) trial and prescription and also maintain a high focus on delivering ongoing therapy interventions and capacity building supports. At Helen Walker Occupational Therapy our philosophy is to assist you (or your family member/client) to do, be and become your truest self. And to foster a sense of belonging. Both as part of our community and within your own community and occupations (meaningful activities that we want or need to do). Our friendly team look forward to hearing from you with any enquiries. Please note that clients requiring minor home modifications can be supported by Helen Walker Occupational Therapy. However, complex home modifications are not currently an area of service delivery and Helen Walker Occupational Therapy works closely alongside local OT service providers for these needs as required. Helen Walker Occupational Therapy does not compile Positive Behaviour Support Plans and is not currently registered for delivery of NDIS supports under the 'Improved Relationships' category.

What a fantastic MDT and support work team meeting!!

OT Helen is seen here working closely with a client's PBSP (Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner), Speech Therapist, Day Centre Manager and full support work team! Delivering support worker coaching and education.

At HWOT, we work collaboratively to ensure our clients' have optimal therapy strategies in their sessions, the most co-ordinated supports to thrive and meet their goals, and less repetition of communication/stories/information giving.

Whilst we deliver OT and Social Work, we actively seek out and work together your team 🌈⭐.

For therapists and other clinicians seeking advice on how to do this within NDIS/private practice contexts, we offer training and supervision on how to do the same.

We love what we do together with you, and it shows🩷💙💚.

As we move into the Easter period, we wanted to let our wonderful clients, families, support coordinators, schools, kindies and community partners know that Helen Walker Occupational Therapy will be closed on Friday 3 April and Monday 6 April for the Easter public holidays.

Our team will return to normal operations after the long weekend and we will respond to any messages, emails or enquiries as soon as we are back.

We truly appreciate your patience during public holiday periods as it allows our clinicians time to rest, recharge, and spend time with their own families so we can continue to show up fully for the people we support.

Thank you, as always, for being part of our HWOT community and for the trust you place in us.

We had SOOOOO much fun celebrating the Feb/March cluster of our HWOT team birthdays this month 🥳.

It is always a pleasure getting together as a team outside work to truly connect, natter for Australia, Wales, England and South Africa (we are an eclectic team!) and have some great belly laughs as always🩷.

In true form we had to pick learning a new activity (can we fit this within learning a new Occupation?🤔)...this time was a Cocktail Making Masterclass! Definitely a cup-filler for us! And a planning, sequencing, coordination and fine motor task for sure, haha!

We were sorry to miss our lovely practice assistant Krystal but sent her lots of Birthday love.

Can't wait for the August/September birthday cluster!

We were so excited to receive our new resources from , thoughtfully designed to align with your baby’s visual development. These beautifully made items are perfect for supporting tummy time, encouraging early play skills, and fostering meaningful moments of connection. The waterproof book is an added bonus — ideal for bath time or messy play adventures.

We’ll also be incorporating these products into sessions with some of our older clients, particularly those with developmental delays, sensory processing differences, or visual impairments, as the high‑contrast designs offer fantastic therapeutic value.

We’re especially eager to explore the High Contrast Sensory Water Mat — a brilliant tool for promoting core stability, motor development, visual engagement, and a whole lot of curiosity.

OT Tash and Social Worker Bec had a fantastic time completing the basic Key Word Sign workshop in Brisbane last weekend 🫶👐.

We always strive to integrate any Speech Therapist recommended communication strategies into our clients' sessions.....and being able to provide additional and supplementary means to communication is pivotal to us delivering our best service and supporting clients to reach their goals.

This course is something every clincian on our team undertakes, alongside training from Speech Therapists in the use of AAC and working collaboratively/delivering joint sessions with other Allied Health Providers on your team.

Feel free to test your HWOT OT or social worker this week if you're an active user of Key Word Sign 🤣🤫.

Today we are celebrating the lovely Jess on her birthday!🎂

Although Jess has only been with us since early February, it already feels like she has been part of our HWOT family for much longer. From the very beginning she stepped into her role with a calm confidence and genuine warmth that has made such a beautiful impression on both our team and the families she supports.

Jess brings such thoughtfulness to her work. She has a quiet and supportive way of making clients feel safe, heard and understood and that is something truly special 🌈. We see the care she pours into her sessions, the way she prepares, the way she listens, and the way she advocates. So much planning, consideration and reflection behind the scenes. It is clear she is exactly where she is meant to be.

We are so grateful she chose to join our little corner of the world. Our team is richer for her kindness, her bubbliness, her professionalism and her heart.

Jess, we hope this year ahead is filled with growth, joy, meaningful moments and a few well deserved treats along the way. Thank you for the energy and compassion you bring to HWOT every day. 💙🩷💚

Wishing the happiest of birthdays to our wonderful practice manager Yvette 🎂🥳.

Yvette has been with us 4 years this year -during this time she has been such an incredible support to myself as the business owner, to our team and to our clients.

She is the literal glue behind the scenes, the strength for business support as an owner and the kind, practical responsive 'can do' for our team and clients.

When diary planning goes old school!...3 laptops, 2 OTs, a practice assistant and some Butcher Paper 💪🖍.

Krystal, our awesome practice assistant, hard at work today planning and booking in our new OT Jess' clients.

Nothing beats a bit of floor-time and body movement to change it up 🤗🙌.

Sometimes it doesn't always fall to plan..... but know that as a mobile provider we do work super duper hard in the background to book appointments in the locations and times that meet our clients needs. And also to work within our therapist's lifestyles and chosen work routines.

Sometimes it is a good old game of Tetris on paper. There 'may' have been coffee out of shot ☕️🫢.
