Epilim (Sodium Valproate) 100mg crushable tablets will be discontinued worldwide and de-listed from the PBS, with stock expected to be exhausted in late February. We know changes like this can be concerning, particularly for people who rely on a specific formulation.

At this stage, there is no generic equivalent for the 100mg crushable tablets. However, other Epilim formulations and doses remain available, including tablets, liquids, and sugar-coated tablets.

If you or someone you support is affected, we strongly encourage you to speak with your neurologist, consultant, or specialist to discuss suitable alternatives and ensure any changes are made safely. Please do not stop or change medication without medical advice.

Did somebody say "accessible music festival"!?

The countdown is on until the inaugural Gather & Grow festival hits the Brightside Outdoors stage on Saturday, January 17.

Hosted by Moonbow Music, the festival was created as a celebration of their fourth year of operation, but Founder, Maddie O'Brien, wanted to make an even bigger impact through the event by choosing to fundraise for Epilepsy Queensland.

As someone who is personally impacted by epilepsy, Maddie wanted to create an event for people just like her who may not have the chance to attend traditional festivals or concerts. Working closely with the venue, Gather & Grow festival will feature a dedicated chill-out zone for those with sensory sensitivities, a toned-down lighting design to reduce photosensitivity triggers and other accessibility measures.

"Gather & Grow is about more than just a lineup," Maddie says, "it's about creating community and celebrating the people who make live music thrive".

Over the weekend, we were deeply honoured to be part of the unveiling of the Lozza’s Legacy B-Triple — a moving tribute to the life and legacy of 21-year-old Lauren “Lozza” Smith, whose life was tragically cut short by epilepsy.

Built with the generous support of OBrienco Transport and its partners, the specially-branded B-Triple will carry Lauren’s story across the country, helping to spark vital conversations about epilepsy, SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy), and the profound impact epilepsy has on families and communities.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Lauren’s parents, Craig and Susan, her friends, the transport community, and everyone who played a role in bringing this tribute to life. Your compassion and commitment are helping to raise awareness and ensure more Australians understand the realities of living with epilepsy and SUDEP.

Lozza’s Legacy continues to inspire and unite us in our purpose to empower people impacted by epilepsy to live safely, confidently, and with dignity 💜

We're well and truly in the thick of the festive season and gearing up for end of year holidays, but what does that mean for people with epilepsy?

Traditions that we take for granted are often challenging or anxiety-inducing for the 50,000 Queenslanders living with this complex condition.

Long days at the beach, going on family outings to look at Christmas light displays or catching up with friends at Christmas parties aren't always the fun, exciting activities many of us know them to be.

We need your help to build a community that is safer and more inclusive for the thousands of Queenslanders and their families impacted by epilepsy.

By donating to Epilepsy Queensland's Christmas Appeal, you are ensuring our vital work bridging the gap between clinical care and everyday life can continue to meet the needs of our community.

Give generously this Christmas: bit.ly/EQ_CA25

What a day! 💜🏏

Day Three of the Ashes and The Holsh Experience - Home of the Gabbatroopers takeover did not disappoint. From the the crew marching into the Gabba with a live trumpet fanfare to a full squad of Gabbatroopers at Easy Times Brewing Co bringing the energy - today was something special.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined in and purchased raffle tickets. Together, we’ve raised over $5,500 to support the 50,000 Queenslanders living with epilepsy. Your enthusiasm (and legendary costumes!) make a real impact.

We’re incredibly grateful to Holsh for inviting us to join this epic event, his generosity, and his ongoing commitment to championing charities and Epilepsy Queensland.

Haven’t entered the raffle yet? There’s still time to join the fun and support a great cause. 👇

Welcome to Epilepsy Queensland

Epilepsy Queensland is dedicated to optimising the quality of life of people with epilepsy and their carers/families through information, support, counselling, education, training, NDIS support, advocacy and research. We also offer in-service training and workshops for health, disability and education organisations so they are better placed to help people with epilepsy.

We aim to increase public awareness and raise community understanding of epilepsy. Epilepsy occurs in one in 50 people and yet there are many misconceptions. Our National campaign to raise awareness occurs in March each year culminating in Purple Day on 26 March. On our page throughout the year we share our members epilepsy stories, information, epilepsy facts and news to help break down the misconceptions and bring epilepsy out of the shadows.

Rugby League legend Wally Lewis is our Patron. Following the successful release of his book ‘Out of the Shadows’ detailing his journey with epilepsy, Wally became a great ambassador for Epilepsy Queensland and an advocate for people living with epilepsy.
