Medicinal cannabis products can be an integral part of patient care.

Medicinal cannabis has been available in Australia for a number of years to treat a range of medical conditions.
Previously the process was complicated by legal paperwork that had to be negotiated but more recently has become more streamlined and efficient.

I am an authorised prescriber of medicinal cannabis products and I have had some remarkable success with some medical conditions - such as chronic pain management and anxiety and insomnia. In fact it has become a particularly rewarding part of my medical practice.

Contrary to what some agencies promise, medicinal cannabis is not a "silver bullet" that will cure everything from heart disease to cancer. However for some people with certain conditions it can be a remarkably effective form of treatment or be a part of their traditional treatment program.

All patients require a proper consultation and assessment prior to a prescription being available if appropriate. I work closely with our local pharmacy to reduce paperwork and delays.

Conspiracy theories abound about Coronavirus - here's a helpful article from the ABC about how to respond to family members who are drawn into beliefs that you fear are misleading or dangerous.

The pandemic has quickly changed everything — we're confined to our homes, glued to our screens. Yet for some the virus has also fractured a shared sense of what is fact, what is true.

Covid - 19 and your health - the rest of it!. As this pandemic takes over more and more aspects of our lives - from physical distancing, to socially isolating, to staying at home, to not going to work/movies/restaurants/gym/sports etc etc etc... and of course becoming preoccupied with the risks of the disease itself,it's very easy to forget about the rest of our health.
What about all the other things that need attention??
Doctors and epidemiologists are increasingly worried about the medium and long term effects of our current circumstances on our health.
So please please please, don't neglect your health in these difficult times.

Don't run out of MEDICATION.
Don't ignore your DIABETES.
Please stay up to date with all your CHRONIC DISEASE management.
Don't ignore that new skin spot.
Please acknowledge your emotional and mental health needs. - We are living in unprecedented times with tremendous demands being placed on our emotional resilience.
We need to be kind to ourselves and remember to offer support to those who need it and to ask for support when we need it too.
Because GP surgeries have moved to teleheath does not mean they are not there for you. Please call your doctor if you need advice with health or emotional difficulties.
All the doctors at my surgery will always see you in person if it's considered medically necessary.
