What is the central nervous system?
The central nervous system (CNS) is made up of the brain and spinal cord. It is one of 2 parts of the nervous system. The other part is the peripheral nervous system, which consists of nerves that connect the brain and spinal cord to the rest of the body.

The central nervous system is the body’s processing centre. The brain controls most of the functions of the body, including awareness, movement, thinking, speech, and the 5 senses of seeing, hearing, feeling, tasting and smelling (Health Direct, 2022).
When your CNS is overwhelmed you can sooth it yourself by using grounding, mindfulness, breathing, distraction, change in body temp, exercise and, at times, sleep. You have a great deal of control over its activation.

Day 2: 130 push ups!
I am overwhelmed by the amount of support this challenge as already received. Today we have raised a whooping $425 🤍🤍 thank you to everyone who has donated to lifeline.
Many amazing people I work with rely on lifeline as a source of support in times of need, research shows that people who are in a suicidal mindset have a ‘tunnel vision’ and they see no other way out of the pain for themselves and the pain they ‘believe’ they are inflicting on others. Lifeline helps by challenging these strong thoughts, assess their risk, connect them in with resources and allow their emotions to be validated (amongst a list of many other things). They are a essential services and they are so underfunded in Australia.
Your donation could help answer that call which could change someone’s direction. It sounds dramatic but it’s true. A single change of thought can save a preventable death.

Day 1: 75 push ups. Donate via link in profile.
This year I am completing the push-up challenge, one push-up of every life lost by su***de. We all hope to continue the conversation around mental health and the need for improved government funding to support this health crisis.
Lifeline relies on donations and volunteers to maintain their phone lines, working in crisis centres is a tough gig and funds are required to maintain a quality service for those in need.

What is the blue tree project? …

Their mission is to help spark difficult conversations and encourage people to speak up when battling mental health concerns.

By spreading the paint and spreading the message that "it’s OK to not be OK", we can help break down the stigma that’s still largely attached to mental health

Quote from ‘The Whole Brain Child’ by Daniel Siegel and Tina Bryson:

“What moulds our brain? Experience. Even into old age our experiences actually change the physical structure of the brain. The ways in which particular circuits in the brain are ‘activated’ determines the nature of our mental activity. When neurons ‘fire together’ they grow new connections between them. Overtime, the connections that result from firing lead to rewiring the brain”.
If a change in your thinking is your goal, it’s not just possible, it will happen. Be kind to yourself and keep going. 🙌🏻

Recently I listened to a clinical podcast that stated:

We need to push ourselves in unknown (often scary, uncomfortable and nerve wracking) circumstances to learn, to create new neural pathways and to expand our minds.
The same goes for healing, if you are recovering from trauma the ‘well known path’ may not be serving you the way it once did. It doesn’t mean that more healing can’t be done.

has captured this well.
Emotions are messages to the body and you should never apologise for them. They are needed and they are okay to share.
