Welcome to
Wise Mind Wellbeing π»
My name is Josie and I am a compassionate therapist and Social Worker who has taken the plunge as a sole trader in private practice.
I have over 15 years working in non-government community services across various areas including disability, aged, employment services, disaster recovery, mental health, NDIS, and alcohol and other drug dependency. I have also worked in leadership roles overseeing community mental health teams including a team of Support Coordinators.
I have spent 2.5 years working as a Clinician delivering comprehensive Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) groups, individual therapy and phone coaching to individuals diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).
I hold a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology) from the University of Queensland and am due to graduate with a Masters in Social Work (Professional Qualifying) from Charles Sturt University in December 2021.
I am always jumping at the chance to further increase my knowledge and skills by undertaking professional development opportunities.
My practice is person centred, strengths-based, feminist and trauma-informed. I draw from systems and social learning theory.
I love working on a micro level with individuals, families and groups, both short to long term in a holistic approach that promotes empowerment and self-determination. I aim to always maintain a non-judgemental stance and uphold the dignity and worth of every individual.
I am passionate about social justice and equality. I work respectfully with individuals of cultural and diverse backgrounds ensuring a safe and meaningful space is created.
I have experience working with all ages but my current focus is with adults 18+ years of age. I have a soft spot working with women in the perinatal period and also children with one of my favourite experiences working in a childrenβs mental health centre in Ipswich.
I am so very excited to embark on this new journey in my career π»
