With 13+ yrs invaluable experience as a Support Worker and recently transitioning into a Support Coordinator role, Lisa Garett brings extensive hands-on knowledge and dedication to the disability and community services sector. Her career has involved working alongside adults in the community across diverse areas including Physical Disabilities, Aged Care, Dementia Awareness, Bipolar Disorder, Palliative Care, and most recently, five rewarding years supporting participants within the NDIS Mental Health and Psychosocial Supports.
It has been both a privilege and deeply rewarding for her to walk alongside individuals on their personal journeys, empowering them to achieve their goals and enhance their quality of life.
Despite facing her own physical challenges, including two lumbar back surgeries (2006 and 2012), and living with a disability since 2012 Sciatic nerve damage, she remains driven and resilient. Her lived experience strengthens the compassion, empathy, respect, knowledge, and determination she brings to her work.
She has a calm, caring nature and a warm presence, with strong communication skills & ensuring every individual feels heard, valued, and supported throughout their unique journey. She is deeply committed to upholding dignity and respect, while working collaboratively to achieve each participant’s aspirations and meaningful outcomes. Her passion for supporting others is genuine, and she is dedicated to fostering independence, empowerment, and inclusive community participation.
Outside of work she loves spending time with her family, the joy of her two Border Collie’s dogs that bring her pleasure & are funny, or going down to the beach for a coffee.
