Matildas forward Michelle Heyman lived with anxiety and panic attacks for years, but she struggled to talk about it with her friends, family and teammates.

Before retiring in 2019, she said to her psychologist she felt like she couldn't breathe. One of the most difficult conversations and decisions in her life, turned out to be one of the most important. During her time off the field, Michelle rediscovered herself and learned that while football is a big part of her life, it isn’t everything.

The path to healing took time and support, especially from Michelle's now-fiancée, Christine, who regularly checked in and created a safe space to talk openly. Returning to football has given Michelle new purpose, to inspire the next generation to look out for one another.

🔟years ago we took one hell of a leap!

We hosted an action-packed full-day workshop for 100 teenage athletes — with 4 guest Olympians — packed with games that stretched their thinking🧠, sparked reflection, and challenged them to rise to their own occasion.

It was a risk. It was different. And it worked✅

We took big steps. We backed bold ideas. We created opportunities for people to learn, grow, and shine in ways that stick.

This 6mth program is purpose-built for female athletes who want to perform under pressure, stay mentally sharp, and unlocking their full potential in sport and life.

🌟 Led by our Olympic Sport Psychologist Georgia Ridler, athletes will dive into:
✔ Real talk workshops

✔ Q&A sessions

How do we stay focused on our goals, amidst distractions???

This is the question we explored today as we launched the All She Can Be: Peak Performance Program at The Glennie School Sport.

This 6 month program guides high-performance student-athletes to become the best they can be both on and off the field.

Through f2f workshops, workbook reflections and online mini-lessons, students will build mental strength and focus.

This is a great group of students who are training, not waiting for Brisbane 2032.
