What was on the menu for dinner tonight?

Did you know clients are given an Active Living Nutrition guide to help them through their wellbeing journey?

It includes tips, facts and recipes to assist you in improving your lifestyle.

We thought we'd share one with you!

Salmon Nicoise!

Ingredients

- One fillet of steamed or poached salmon (or 1 can of wild Alaskan red salmon - drained and chunked
- Two quarter of cos lettuce- drained and cut in half
- Black and green olives
- Handful of mixed baby salad leaves
- 4 anchovy fillets (optional)
- 1/2 medium avocado
- Lemon juice, olive oil and black pepper to season

Directions
1. Arrange cos lettuce on a plate and cover with mixed baby salad leaves. Arrange the remaining ingredients over the top as you please,
2. Drizzle with fresh lemon juice, olive oil and season with black pepper.

Five quick tips to staying healthy this festive season.

1.Before you go to a party, eat a full and balanced meal. I know this may sound strange because there’s going to be FREE FOOD, but why go to a party hungry where you don’t know what the menu is going to be? Nine times out of ten you know it’s only going to be finger foods, and you also know that most party finger foods aren’t good for you !

2. Do a work out! Visit the gym, hit the treadmill or go for a family bike ride. Don’t throw away your hard work because you’re lazy or feel like crap because you ate too much. Go try out those new workout clothes and get a sweat on. OR, if your gym IS closed, try an at home workout. They can be quick and dirty and still have a major impact.

3.Give yourself a cheat day or a few cheat meals over the Holidays instead of going crazy for 8 days straight. You’ve worked so hard all year, you deserve a treat, but don’t ruin everything you’ve done by eating all the cake in the world over a week.

4.Eat clean outside of your “Holiday cheat meals”. Lots of greens, veggies, lean meats, no sugars and a small amount of carbs and fruit. Keep it balanced!

5. DO NOT say “I’ll start in the New Year”. This is the biggest cop-out that exists. Why put off to tomorrow what you can do today? Whether you’re a gym rat or want to get healthy for the first time, being active, eating well and being healthy is the BIGGEST way to prevent putting on Holiday weight!

Project Fit work with company's and organisations throughout Brisbane to create healthy work environments for staff and it's employers.
Staff at The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health underwent the 'Spring into Summer challenge' over 12 wks, giving staff an opportunity to participate in a mind, body and soul ransformation experience while participating in some healthy competition.

The outcome was overwhelming. With record staff taking part and greater outcomes then any other challenge at this workplace so far.

Congratulations to Charles Ncube who took out the $1000 winning spot!

"Working with John and the wellness program has seen my weight plummet from the uncomfortable highs of 104kgs to the current 91kg; I can truly say I am well on track to achieving my target weight of 85 kg" he said.

And well done to the other participants who walked away with a prize...
