Queensland’s agricultural sector has a new resource to help make farms safer 🦺

The Qld Government has released ‘Unpacking the Rural plant Code of Practice’, a new educational video series designed to help farmers and agricultural businesses understand and apply the Rural plant Code of Practice 2024.

Each video focuses on a key topic identified during consultation with the agricultural sector, including using technology safely, training and skills, vehicle safety on farms, and in-field traffic management.

The videos provide practical insights and examples of how the Code can be applied on the ground to manage risks and improve safety in Qld farms.

This is a great opportunity to apply for funding to kickstart an innovative project that will strengthen biosecurity preparedness and protect industry and communities from pests and diseases.

Funding is available in two grant categories:

Innovation
✨ Three grants of $30,000 each
✨ Projects that explore or implement new technologies and methods to improve biosecurity practices in Queensland

Education
📚 8 grants of $15,000 each
📚 Projects that raise awareness, educate and deliver behaviour change for stronger biosecurity practices

"AgForce is on the front foot urging the Federal Government to work more directly with farmers on the recent changes to the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation (EPBC) Act.

Late last year, pivotal amendments were passed with little to no consultation with Qld producers, despite the significant implications for how land is managed. We are deeply concerned these impacts will be compounded by how the reforms are implemented on the ground. Current self-assessment and referral expectations are unrealistic and risk undermining both agricultural productivity and environmental outcomes."
