The flu vaccination is the simplest and most effective way you can protect yourself against the lurgie this winter – and best of all, it’s free!

Our President Dr Nick Yim rolled up his sleeve for his annual flu shot today. The Queensland government is providing free access to the vaccine again this year, and Hervey Bay MP David Lee joined Dr Nick to get his shot too.

Vaccination is a medical marvel, and boosting our herd immunity reduces pressure on our emergency departments.

Talk to your GP and get boosted.

ITS MEET A MEMBER WEDNESDAY🌟

This week we would like to introduce you to Dr Sarah Davidson
By day, Dr Davidson is saving lives across the Sunshine Coast. By night (and weekends), she’s caring for a farm full of quirky animals, including alpacas, donkeys, peacocks… and even Gerald the printer spider.

Her journey from the UK to rural Queensland is anything but ordinary - doctor, adventurer, educator and animal rescuer all in one. Proof that you really can do it all (just don’t ask the alpacas to mow the lawn 😄).

Coming up to National Doctors Day tomorrow, 30 March, we’re celebrating the human side of medicine.

In this video, AMA Queensland Board Chair and GP Dr Eleanor Chew reflects on what it means to be a family doctor — being there for patients across life’s moments, building trust over time and caring not just for individuals, but for families and communities.

It’s a privilege to walk alongside patients through their health journeys. We thank all doctors for the compassion, continuity and connection they bring to their work, every day.

In the lead up to National Doctors Day this Monday 30 March we’re asking our doctors what they love most about their jobs.

Many doctors play a role in not only caring for patients, but also advocating for a stronger, fairer health system.

In this video Dr Imran Kajani, an AMA Queensland council member and GP, shares why he loves being a doctor — reflecting the deep commitment to patient care, trust and professional advocacy that sits at the heart of medicine.

Today, we thank all doctors who care for their patients while also standing up for quality healthcare, safe workplaces and better outcomes for our communities.

AMA Queensland’s Immediate Past President Dr Maria Boulton is helping lead the conversation on flu prevention in Queensland💬

Dr Boulton joined Queensland Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Tim Nicholls MP, to highlight the FluMist vaccine, a simple, needle-free option that is free for children aged 2–5, making it easier to protect our youngest Queenslanders this season.

The flu vaccine is recommended for everyone, so now is the time to book in and protect yourself and those around you.
