Cassandra has a passion for plants and started her career studying horticulture. Through her experience with caring for plants she learnt about the particular nutrients and environment required for plants to thrive and found a lack of these requirements in plants to be very easily observed. She then became curious about the same requirements in people and went on to complete a Bachelor Degree in Heath Science Naturopathy. Cassandra has a passion for exploring the intricate relationship between plants and humans. The nutrients, minerals and phytochemicals that plants provide and their action in the human body an area of great fascination and awe. Cassandra blends the healing power of nature with modern scientific knowledge, the art of self-care, and the wisdom of listening to our bodies. With an endless passion for knowledge she continues to attend an array of seminars and events, ensuring her patients receive the highest level of care utilising up-to-date medical research and natural medicine knowledge. Cassandra is a clinical naturopath that integrates traditional naturopathic approaches with modern scientific knowledge of natural and conventional medicines. Cassandra undertakes detailed case analysis including full medical history, listening to and “hearing” each patient’s story and collecting dietary and lifestyle details. Naturopathic diagnostic tests include tongue and nail appraisal, blood pressure measurement and Iridology assessment. Results of blood, urine or other medical tests are considered and further medical or other tests as indicated may be requested. Treatments are always individually tailored considering what is practical for patients and rely on a complementary approach of prescribed naturopathic medicines, dietary, and lifestyle recommendations. Cassandra is often asked about the safety of using naturopathic medicine alongside prescription/pharmacy medicines. As naturopathic training includes the study of pharmacology the possibility of drug interactions is always carefully considered in the formulation of individual naturopathic prescriptions. Cassandra has a special interest in endocrine disorders, autoimmune conditions, pain management, mental health, digestive imbalances, and allergy and histamine intolerance. Offering a personalised and caring approach, her philosophy is based on holistic health as she believes that the body has an innate ability to heal itself when it is given the appropriate tools and support as she had previously seen in the care and maintenance of plants. Cassandra commonly treats a diverse range of health concerns.

🌿 **Step Into Nature, Step Into Wellness** 🌿

Feeling stressed or low? A simple walk in nature can make a big difference. Research shows that spending time outdoors reduces anxiety, lifts mood, and helps us feel more connected and energized. Even short walks in green spaces can calm the nervous system and boost mental wellbeing.

• Regular nature walks are linked to reduced rumination (those repetitive, negative thought patterns).
• Group walks in nature foster social connection, which is protective against loneliness and low mood.
• Even short walks outdoors can increase energy, focus, and feelings of vitality.

🌱 Beyond mental health, nature-based walking supports cardiovascular fitness, immune function, and long-term resilience. But the most powerful impact? The way it reconnects us to ourselves, others, and the natural world.

💡 Try it this week: take a mindful stroll, notice the sounds of birds, the feel of the breeze, and how your mind shifts afterward.

🌿 **Are Pickles Healthy? Here’s What to Know**

Eating pickles can add flavour and variety to your meals, and depending on the type you choose, they may offer some general wellbeing benefits. Fermented and vinegar-based pickles each have different properties, so understanding the label can help you choose what suits you best.

🥒 **Potential Benefits of Pickles

Digestive Support
Fermented pickles contain naturally occurring probiotics, which may contribute to a healthy gut environment and support general digestive wellbeing.

Antioxidant Content
Cucumbers and many pickling spices contain antioxidants such as vitamin C and beta-carotene. Antioxidants play a role in helping the body manage everyday oxidative stress.

*Low-Calorie Snack Option
Pickles are typically low in calories and can be a satisfying addition to balanced eating patterns.

Vinegar-Based Pickles
Vinegar has been studied for its potential effects on digestion and metabolism, though results vary. These pickles don’t contain probiotics but can still be included as part of a balanced diet.

Electrolytes
Pickle brine contains sodium and small amounts of other electrolytes, which is why some people use it after exercise. This won’t be suitable for everyone, especially those needing to limit salt intake.

🧂 **How to Choose a Healthier Pickle

Check the Sodium
Look for lower-sodium brands where possible. As a general guide, 5% or less of the daily value per serving is considered low.

Avoid Added Sugar
Some pickles—especially sweet varieties—contain added sugar. Choose options without added sugar if you prefer a more whole-food style product.

Simple Ingredient List
Look for pickles made with basic ingredients such as cucumbers, water, salt, vinegar, and spices. Minimising artificial colours and preservatives is often a good choice for those wanting a more natural product

Fermented vs. Vinegar-Based
Fermented pickles are made with salt and water and may contain live cultures.
Vinegar-based pickles are shelf-stable and don’t provide probiotics, but can still fit within a balanced eating pattern.

⚠️ A Note on Histamine Sensitivity

Fermented foods, including some pickles, naturally contain histamines. People who are sensitive to histamine may notice symptoms when consuming fermented products. Histamine levels can vary depending on how the food is prepared and how long it’s fermented.

If you’re sensitive to histamines or find fermented foods don’t agree with you, choosing vinegar-based pickles or limiting intake may be more comfortable.

🌿✨ I’m running for autism! ✨🌿

I’ve signed up for the Run for Autism this year — both as a personal challenge and to raise awareness and funds for a cause close to my heart 💙.

Many people don’t realise there’s a strong link between autism and hypermobility (joint flexibility that can cause pain, fatigue, and injuries). Research shows that supporting the body through gentle movement, pacing, and self-care is essential for wellbeing. As someone who experiences hypermobility myself, training for this run is also part of my own self-care journey.

If you’d like to support me and this important cause, please consider sponsoring my run here: 👉

Every donation helps improve services and supports for autistic individuals and their families. Thank you for cheering me on — both in running shoes and in the work I do to support holistic health in my community 🌿💚.
