I’m struggling with the right caption more than I struggled with where to put the apostrophe on the black board.

Common conditions affect everyone. It usually has nothing to do with their sexual orientation, preferences, or activities.

I’m very happy to see the implementation of the change to bowel screening guidelines! (But I am not happy to be 45!).

Much gratitude to for their efforts in helping to lower the screening age.

Have you received the test or at least the text?

Have you done it? If not, why not?

Any tips for the nervous?

A rectocoele is a very common factor associated with incomplete emptying when passing a bowel motion.

This is very frequent in young women with tight pelvic floors, where the right muscle can act as a closed gate, and divert faeces into the rectocoele.

Symptoms many include constipation and difficulty initiating a bowel movement, incomplete emptying, frequent bowel movements, pelvic pressure, incontinence and leakage, discomfort during intimacy (usually with penetrative acts, and this can even cause faecal incontinence during intimacy). Another common symptom is difficulty achieving cleaniness and prolonged wiping.

Got tags?

I see a LOT of women with tags on their bottom, and they hate them. I get it. But it’s important to drill down the symptoms and see what is actually causing them and what we can safely do about it.

I went to write a meme about seeing patients on time for their appointment, and saw this in my drafts. I like it. It’s an important lesson, and while I’m one for personal growth and learning from mistakes, this one is best avoided.

Judgement free-zone, always.

Let’s educate, not embarrass.

You want to do XYZ with your butt? I got you. This is how we are going to do it safely and fix your problem.

Maybe let’s start by not laughing at foreign objects any more. Post for education - not comedy.

Putting this here because not everyone will see the walls of my office.

My first medical elective as a student was with the gender affirmation unit in Amsterdam. The staff and patients were so kind, and giving of their time, when really I was just in the way - but learning.

I’ve always been grateful for this experience, so providing inclusive care is a big part of my practice.

Thanks to for supporting our LGBQTIA+ kids, they need it now as much as ever.

This appeared in my memories feed today. Ray Wilke was a famous weatherman who graced our screens in the 1980s and 1990s. I was lucky enough to care for him back in 2020, and we all made the newspaper. It seems Ray passed away in 2023 at the age of 98. He was certainly as sharp-witted as you might remember when I had the pleasure to care for him. Rest in Peace Ray.
