Another slow-cooker dish coming up - pea and ham soup made with 500 grams bacon bones as Ive already used the ham bone from Christmas 🥣 Am using my tried-and-true recipe from the McKenzies 500 g pack of split green peas which is the basis of this soup 👌🏻 Really that’s all you need - the peas plus the bone or bones. The rest is different flavours such as carrot, parsley, bay leaf etc 🥕 All this needs is long slow cooking - it will take all day to slowly cook which is what I want 😋

It’s Monday and it’s meat free!!

Chickpea Tagine.
Start from the bottom. Sautéed onions, garlic, ginger. Add a good sprinkle of Moroccan spices then your favourite vegetables, stock, crushed tomatoes. Simmer until tender. Add a can of drained chickpeas. Serve covered with coriander or parsley.

Next time you reach for a snack, think of this comparison.

A humble banana - weighing 170g with skin - supplies 395 kJ (91 Cals) 🍌

In contrast, a slice of banana bread comes in four times greater. Why? ✨

Once you combine the flour, sugar, eggs, milk, butter, cinnamon and bananas, bake it and then divide it into 10 slices - you end up with a 1980 kJ (or 473 Calorie) cake-like snack that contains 4 teaspoons of sugar but only one-fifth of a banana 🍌

So it should really be called ‘banana cake’, not ‘banana bread’! 🍌🍌

Grab your straws and get out there! Packing your reusable items doesn’t need to be a difficult task once you get the hang of it!

What’s our tip? Get into the habit of cleaning your products as soon as you get home. Then once you’re done, put them straight back into your bag. That way you don’t have to worry about grabbing your essentials when you’re rushing out the door!
